Burned Rubber Smell Rear Tire
Anyone know the cause of burned rubber smell on right rear/or left tire after driving up steep hill in cold/snowy conditions? Ebrake is/was disengaged...

First, welcome to the Club. You will find lot's of good information on this forum about your GX.
As for your question, it could be one of two things or a combination thereof. The smell is possibly coming from your brakes which are engaged by the traction control system to prevent/limit wheel slip under the conditions that you describe and or it's from your tires caused by any wheel spin.

Thanks...I took it to shop just to be safe, since I have to drive it back to Texas from Colorado in a couple of weeks. They said the same thing you did, apparently car is just doing what it was designed to do!!!

I had the same problem too. I recently took my GX to Lake Tahoe where elevation is about 6000 feet and when I stopped my rear brakes smell like burned tires. Just use lower gear when u going down the hill/.

Thanks guys. I noticed the same thing the other night when we got up here to VT for some skiing (light snow most of the way up). The brakes and tires are both new as of last summer so I'm very relieved that it's not something significant, esp. with two feet of snow predicted for this weekend.
