Drawtite Hitch Installation
I just picked up a new Drawtite hitch for my GX for $150. I didn't have the GX with me when I picked it up, but the dealer quoted $35 for installation. Is the PITA factor with DIY installation worth $35 or should I just buck up and install it myself? Also, for those who have installed, how do you remove the hitch cover plate? Besides the 2 plastic pop rivets on the botom, I see at least 4 blue clips holding the plate in place but I can't seem to fit my hands behind the plate to remove them.

Go with the $35 installation...it would be worth that small amount of money to save you the time & effort. You shouldn't need to remove the bumper insert if the hitch is the tubular design...they sit below the bumper. The only hitch that requires removal/replacement of the bumper insert is the Toyota 5000 lb hitch that was sold on the 2003 & early 2004 models. Drawtite doesn't offer that hitch, so you should be ok.
