Default How many of you use the Lexus Link?

I do although It's a far cry from the "On Star" I have kept the Lexus link active. Three months after purchasing my new truck it was stolen and it was Lexus link that was able to tell us exactly where the truck was and it was retrieved within an hr of reporting it stolen. Now I wouldn't say that they handled this in the most professional way in a crisis and there were many flaws that need to be ironed out but in the long run they were able to tell the police where the truck was.

I use the phone the most but due to other reasons it's reassuring to know that if there was an emergency I only had to push a button and someone would know where I was. Road side assistance....LOL don't get me started.

With the "On Star" when I had a problem with my 2003 Escalade I was able to push the button tell the person what was going on and they were able to do a diagnosis right then and there and guide me as to what to do next. I was told that on the 2010 GX that the Lexus Link has been updated and they too will be able to do a lot more.

I noticed on the Lexus web site that they have replaced Lexus Link with "Lexus Enform with Safety Connect".

From lexus.com:

Lexus Safety Connect™ [1] [2], standard on all 2010 Lexus models with a one-year subscription, offers Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Location, Emergency Assistance and Enhanced Roadside Assistance [3] connectivity. Benefits include: Automatic Collision Notification, which calls for help and sends the vehicle's location to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point in the event of a frontal airbag deployment or a severe rear-end collision. Stolen Vehicle Location, which uses GPS technology and assists local authorities to help recover the vehicle. Emergency Assistance is available via the overhead SOS button.

Be very careful about relying on Lexus Link for emergencies. Lexus Link is cell phone based, as a result, it will be useless in the area when you would need it most in case of emergency. There is no way I would be relying on cell connection for emergencies when I am in the mountains (as an example). Lexus Link will be useful in urban areas, when there is large number of other people to call 911.
