Unhappy Ginormous Crack in Wood Trim!

Hey all, I have an '05 GX470 that I bought CPO in May, and only after I had paid for it and everything did I notice that there was a decent sized crack in the wood trim near the 4WD gear selector, and ALSO that there was one on the door near the driver's memory selectors. However, the one near the gear shifter has grown to be the length of the entire piece, and is noticeable in almost any lighting (except for pitch black, of course). After checking Sewell online and going to my local Lexus dealer, it seems replacing the pieces is a bit out of a feasible price range (over $550 for the gear shifter wood, and you have to order an entirely new door panel for the little wood near the memory seats, which is over $800; and neither of these prices includes installation!) So my question is, can I replace the wood cheaply from some website? Or is it possible to get the crack repaired? It goes all the way through the clear coat, so probably not...I emailed Lexus customer support, hopefully they will help me, but I don't have my hopes up...I really wish the warranty would step up and cover it, but of course it states "excluding interior trim" and such...anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

Since it's a CPO, can you go back to the dealer who sold it to you? The crack wasn't disclosed prior to your purchase, so it may only be fair that you go back and ask for some help. Granted you purchased in May and now it's September, so that in itself may be a little challenging. Just curious, why'd you wait so long to speak up?

Default Wrap it with carbon fiber?

Knowing how expense the replacement of the wood trim is have you considered wrapping the pieces with carbon fiber? This site has the product - http://neffywrap.com/

There is also a thread that touches on the subject in not a lot of detail, but makes it enticing. I haven’t had time to try it but probably will Just a thought!

I know I probably shouldn't have waited so long, but I was afraid to ask the dealer about it since the warranty doesn't cover it, and I did not want to actually hear the bad news. Next time I am at the dealer I am going to ask about it though. As I also said above, it didn't bother me until now, since it used to be much smaller. Thanks for your help so far, might just have to ask for the trim for Christmas, lol!

Check ebay or a junk yard. No need to buy new stuff.

Okay, here are some pics of the crack...and out of curiosity, does anyone know how to remove this panel without breaking it?

Becasue of the wood scheme or color tones you really wouldnt think its a crack unless you really inspect it. I have the same issue i just left it alone and no one has really even noticed, not even my wife who drives it all the time.
