Sounds like a decent deal.

Last weekend I put on Centric Premium Rotors (the company that makes StopTech and Power Slot) and Akendbo (sp?) Ceramic Pads. The rotors are just blank replacements, no slotting/drilled holes ~ personal preference.

I got the rotors/pads shipped to my door for $346 from RockAuto and installed them myself. I have never done brakes before and was using hand tools; took me about 4 hours taking my time and being careful. Pretty easy stuff. I never had to disconnect any brake lines, and as a result didn't have to bleed the brakes. A lot of the time was jacking up the car, placing jack stands, and removing/installing wheels. Needed a big torque wrench (bolts were on tight) a couple of C clamps, 21mm/17mm/10mm socket. A little lithium grease and thats all I think.

If you buy the stuff you can get a shop to install them for you at most $100 per axle. Might save you a little money ~ not sure how much more the StopTech rotors are.

how do the brakes feel now? do u feel the difference? The reason i dont want oem replacement is i only got 20k out of them. Also i have 22" wheels and want some extra stopping support.

They feel fine, but way to early to tell if they are going to solve my braking issues. My problem has always been warping ~ I am good for about 20k on originals before they go to crap on me.

Won't know on these for another year and a half or so......I can't imagine how hard it must be "warping wise" with 22"s. That's a lot more rotating mass to get stopped for our wimpy little brakes.

Did you have to break them in? I keep reading about "bedding" brakes.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I will be interested to hear how the Stoptech rotors perform over the long haul vs OEM.

They know their stuff at StopTech and they make a good product. Which rotors and pads did you buy?

Have ran several different flavors or friction on my cars and by far my favorite now are the Performance Friction pads available for $50.00. Much better than the HPS Hawk pads I had prior. Cannot comment on those pads.

If they are not drilled/slotted they are likely going to be the Centric Premium Rotors...its the same diff. They are the manufacturer for StopTech/Powerslot. I believe all "StopTech" branded rotors are slotted or drilled. In the end they are a branch of the Centric company.

In answer to your break in question, it says just drive these for ~ 500 miles normally. Some require a sequence of extreme heating then cool down, etc but for my combo it was normal driving.

Question

I just picked up my GX this last weekend. The brakes felt shaky and the guy that sold it to us seemed pretty knowledgable and said that the rotors were warped and that Lexus would cover that under the 4/50k warranty which they did, but the front brake pads were also alomost nill, so that cost us $370 in parts and labor to get OEM pads in the front and the rear rotors to be resurfaced under warranty... did I get screwed or are OEM brake pads really THAT expensive?!

Here is the quote I got for factory parts from the dealer:

Front rotors $151.41 each ---rear rotors $143.18 each
Front pads $56.73 rear pads $62.99

They would have turned the front rotors as well so ??? $60 for pads, $100 rotor resurface ~ really just more labor??, leaves $210 for other labor. Seems a little high but the Lexus service departments aren't known for their great prices.

+1 98Nav, Lexus dealers are high, I started to go to Toyota dealer where I find the prices are 30% cheaper, but they still use OEM parts!
