Default GX470 Bouncy Ride

I just got a 2004 GX470 and the ride is very Bouncy going over bumps during slow to mederate speeds. On the highway is seams fine, but going down a city street, the rear end is very bouncy when hitting bumps.

I have tried all the ride settings and I don't even notice a difference in the settings. It feels like an old car that has bad shocks, but it only bounces 1 time.

Has anyone ever experienced or heard of that?

Exercise the rear air suspension, see if that makes a difference.

Stop the truck, put the rear height adjustment to low, wait till the light stop blinking. Switch to high, wait for the light to stop blinking, then switch back to auto. If this smooth out the ride temporarily, then your rear height sensor needs to be recalibrated or replace.

Good Luck

I was going to ask the same question today. I've had my 2006 GX for about a month now and I notice that at lower speeds there is a lot of "chatter" and feedback. Seems to bouncy for such a fine car.

also check the tire pressure. One time after I picked mine up from the dealer after service it felt awfully bouncy. Got home and found all 4 tires were "courteously" checked by the dealer and set to 45# The temps have warmed up dramatically here recently too and just as the TPMS light will come on during extreme cold (due to pressure dropping b/c of falling temps) it will increase w/ rising temps.

While we're on this subject, I recently had my right height sensor replaced but the passenger side suspension still feels rough. After raising then lowering the suspension everything feels fine.

Which side is the right sensor on - driver's or passenger's? I'm thinking passenger's side which is why it doesn't make any sense that the ride is still rough on that side.

This is happening to my "new" ride ('03) now, but I will try the fix and report an update. Thanks!

Hey Graym, it hasn't worked out yet. I am still learning my car in terms of comfort and sport modes. What kind of bounce did you get? The bounce hits my chest, it's a bit nauseating. I am not sure about my rear height control either. I'll check in a by tomorrow.

Going in for service this week. I am going to to do the type of service that renders height adjustment unusable. Seems like less of a pain and may not be necessary as I plan on using this car for highway roads.

Job done with an air pump remove/replace. Bounce a non-issue and regained control of the height.

basically, I believe that the air pump is not working. My height control works fine as it should but during normal driving on non-highway rides it definitly does not have the ride it used to. At one point it felt as if it was riding on the frame because of all the chatter and banging going on....that only happened twice but not consistent. so i am thinking that there is a problem with the normal driving mode with the air pump. also just to make sure....since i had my car since new in 03 I always heard the back end kinda leave out air pressure and lower when I would park the car. I does not do that anymore....my lexus tech thought I was nuts...but it did that since new and now I it dosn't do it anymore.

Thoughts??
