When are they planning to market this 2010/2011 GX470/460
Hope it will have a fold flat 3rd seat.
I have been waiting to have one for long time and my setback is the hanging 3rd row seats

Two different Lexus dealers told me that the redesigned 2011 GX is going to look somewhat like the Toyota Sequoia... YUCK!

Now it's the 'wait and see' game!

2010 Toyota 4Runner "Illustration"
(From http://www.burlappcars.com/2009/03/2...-4-runner.html)

remember, back years ago, when the 4 runner was popular. Even cool.

No more.

It was too late to cancel the next one, so Toyota decided to go ahead. But sales numbers have been revised to low. Very low.
That means that, when it comes out next year, it'll be a while before you actually see one in the streets...

From this illustration at least, it looks like they are going for a "baby Sequoia" look. Not really what the market is into right now.

And the cool looking FJ cruiser, based on the current 4 runner platform, will not be redesigned when it is laid to rest next year.

R.I.P...

This could give some insight as to what the next GX could look like.

There have been absolutely no hype about a redesign 2010 4runner or the redesign GX, which usually mean its not going to happen or Lexus is not putting a lot of effort into the re-design. The original concept was for the GX to be redesign at 2011 or 2012 and it was suppose to look like a smaller LX and have an optional 5.7 liter engine. Rumor has it that the 5.7 liter engine have been scrap and there are many rumors as to what the redesign GX will look like. One thing that seems for certain is that the re0design GX will look like another Lexus or Toyota. It will not be unique as the curtain GX is now. Another sad day for Lexus, all their cars and trucks are starting to look the same. I guess its cheaper to built cars that way, but it also make their cars and trunks very boring.

It appears that Lexus is styling their SUV's similar to the Toyota SUV line. IMO, there's very little styling diffs. Just look at the Highlander. The LX 570 has a similar base style to it even though they are truly not the same vehicles. To me, the LX, and hopefully not the new GX, just doesn't have enough unique styling to set it apart from the Toyota family.

What do you mean? The current GX is not unique either. Its a Toyota Prado in other markets and will probably be based off of the same vehicle next year as well.

Just wanted to mention that the GX460 has been trademarked for a year and 3 months now:

http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield...010:sbq9aj.8.1

...although they have been known to trademark unproduced models to ward off competitors, similar trademarks were filed before the IS-F, LS 460 L, etc.

The naming scheme is based on the liters of the engine. The GX470 is a 4.7L V-8, while the new GX460 is a 4.6L V-8. It's more efficient, while providing more power. Not really a downgrade of the model number.

As for the styling. The GX may be based off the Prado, but thats what an upscale off-brand (Lexus) of Toyota will do. The point is that even the styling of the Prado was somewhat unique. I like the style of the current GX. I don't particularily like the LX styling now or past. But the sedans are still decent. Except for the new HS or whatever. A luxury Prius is pointless... Drive comfortably while feeling good about it I guess...

I'm waiting for the re-designed GX to come out before I sell my '05. I sure hope it retains all it's good points and unique styling, otherwise I'll have to get something else instead.

Default Spy Photos 2011 Toyota 4Runner

From Jalopnik:

"The 2011 Toyota 4Runner was spotted out in California wearing a thick suit of camo-armor. The new 4Runner seems to retain the shapes which make it recognizable, along with a revised hood-line and headlights.

The next 4Runner will be a refresh rather than a rework, with most of the upgrades coming inside. Undoubtedly we'll be getting superflous upgrades in off-road capability and added power as well. Isn't this the part where everybody gets up in arms about Toyota is building cars Americans don't want, how they've brainwashed consumers into wanting these things and how their big gas hogs have no place in modern society?"
