Default No more redesign GX?

I found this on the internet, the future Lexus plans: The 4Runner-based GX may be replaced by seven-seat crossover built on the GS platform, depending on consumer SUV demand.

I hope not. The GX is a great vehicle. It fills the niche between the RX and LX well. Hopefully that GS based crossover will just be another addition to the Lexus line-up. There's plenty of room...

It is not schedule yet, it may or may not happen, but this is the 1st time I have heard that the new re-design GX for 2010 or 2011 may not happen due to the economy and gas prices.

The G Man if this happens and they change or stop production of the
GX470 what would you guess would most likely be the final year of
the current GX model? 2009? I gotta start saving my pennies to
buy the final year model!

I have no idea when the last GX off the assembly line will be. All I know is, it sounds like if the current trend continues with the gas prices and economy, Lexus will change the GX to a mid size unibody crossover or re-name it. Lexus / Toyota is pretty much delaying all their high price car's launch dates, ie, Lexus GS-F, Supra. The Lexus SC will be discontinue.

I doubt the GX will be discontinued. I believe Toyota would discontinue the LX before they discontinue the GX as Toyota sells more GX's than LX's. The GX is still in it's first generation phase and Lexus should release a second generation hopefully in a few years as the GX 570...

As for the SC, it will not be discontinued as it's the only coupe Lexus has currently. The SC 430 will become the SC 460. We had a lengthy discussing seen in this thread and the rumors of the SC being discontinued is just that...rumors...
