Good afternoon,
I am taking delivery of a 2004 GX470 with all of the options except Navigation and Tow Package both of which I would like to add. Does anyone have any suggestions on what aftermarket DVD players and will work for the car and are there any out there that might work like the factory DVD where you can control everything from the navigation screen?

The second question is aftermarket trailer hitches. I noticed that no one out there carries the aftermarket wiring for the GX470 other than a dealer. I have a local trailer guy that can hard wire it pretty inexpensivly, but last time I did that with a Mercedes I had all sorts of problems. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to CL.

As a rule of thumb in these forums you always have to post pictures of your new ride so we're waiting.

Also do a search because many of these topics have been covered over and over again.

I saved 2 old threads regarding the backup camera as that's something I'm planning to do at some point but haven't gotten to it yet.

I didn't do a search on the trailer hitch but I recall a few good ones so do a search and you should have your answer.

look under. it is prewired already. i had mine set up last year. went to the dealer to buy wirings but was told no need.. it is in the left hand side ang all you have to do is to move it to the rear..just buy a wiring adapter to match the wiring from the trailer..

Yep - mine was prewired also - I bought a Curt hitch fo 130 + shipping - was 160 to my house - bolts on with 6 or 8 bolts - takes about 15 minutes, then I moved the existing trailer plug that is hidden a bit up by the spare down onto the hitch as it has some extra length in it (and mine also came with an extension cable that you could use to move it even further.

I think the key word here is "tow package". Most GXs come with the package (wiring harness, and a place to bolt on a hitch) but rarely with the hitch. If you do not have this package itself, it will be a lot harder to add a hitch, so you should check that out.
