Default Rear view camera install on GX470

I bought a wireless rear view camera a while back. I wonder if there is positive (+) connection from ACC (when the key is is in position 1 and up) in the read gate of GX470.

Thanks

don't know for sure, but why not just tap into the back up lights?

I thought about that. But I want to be able to view the rear at anytime not just when I back up. Has anyone have instruction of how to open the door panel of the back gate? I can take a look with multimeter once I get panel off.

Nothing in the tailgate that will have a switched circuit. It's either when your lights are on (license plate lights), wipers and defoger, or reverse lights. No easy way to get around it.

Another question. Does anyone know if there is a way to display the video from OEM reverse camera while moving?

Maybe the same reason I am trying to do. My solution is just run the wire from fuse box direct to the rear gate for power.

The other option is to put in a toggle switch to turn it on or off whenever. If you want to hook it up to the rear backup lights then just do a 2nd splice.

Toggle switch the reverse signal input wire. This would be similar to those that have added reverse cameras to the SC430 and used the reverse signal wire to change the input to the camera feed.

On my sc430 I have back up camera through the nav tool its installed so when you back up camera comes on and image shows on nav screen . I installed another toggle to the rear back up lights so I can trigger it when I am going driving forward. I can then see whats behind me on my nav screen. I will have to check and see if when I toggle the switch when driving forward if the back up lights come on . I never thought to look, I am guessing that they must. By the way the 12 volt power to the camera only comes on when in reverse. normal forward operation it is off. When I flip the toggle switch the camera power comes on [ will check and see if reverse lights also come on, I will report later

I also noted that if i am under navigation guidance and flip the switch for camera to turn on screen will show whats behind me and i still will receive voice commands even though the screen is not showing me the navigation . I use it a lot this way.

I checked and the reverse lights do not come on when i activate the toggle to switch the camera on while driving forward. I must of tied in the switch and wiring independent of the back up switching in the shifter

I did this the wiring three years ago and I forgot where i tied in the wiring. Probably I am better off not having reverse lights come on when i am driving forward.
