Default Gx 470 Lexus Link Service Discontinued

Gx Owners; I Received A Letter From Lexus Stating That The Lexus Link On Models Gx 470 Year 2003 -2004 Is Being Discontinued Due To Analog Being Taken Over By Digital On Feb. 2008. Lexus Will Pay For The Removal Of Your Lexus Link If You Fill Out The Paper Work.

The Letter Did Not State If A Replacement System Was Available For Model Years 2003 -2004. Has Anyone Received This Letter From Lexus?

Lexus link was removed from the '03 LX years ago. Same thing...dealer removed it for no charge, but lexus didn't replace it w/ anything. You'd think they would since one paid for it.

The Lexus Link wasn't even offered for 2006 - I saw mention of it on the website, but you couldn't equip with it as far as I could tell. The new one was offered in 2007.

I'm surprised they didn't make you some kind of offer to at least split the cost on the new one. My guess is it probably involves something more than swapping out a few parts, but it might be worth discussing with the dealer if you are interested.

I have an '03 GX and haven't received any letter yet. I have no clue what this lexus link thing is? Is it something like Onstar?

I see the lexus link pointless since everyone has a cell phone, AAA (almost everyone), and hardly the lexus leaving you stranded

I guess the 05 and on didn't have the lexus link then.

My '05 does not have it, and it was not an option.

I have an 06 Gx470 and I have the Lexus Link. If it wasn't for the lexus link my truck that was stolen one year ago today wouldn't have been recovered so fast. Lexus told the police just where to find the truck and if it was moving or not. Just for that alone I will keep it. I also use the phone in the truck a lot when I don't carry my cell phone. I always keep minutes on the truck phone just in case.

When we had our Escalade we had On Star and knew about On Star being outdated on our 2003 come 2008 but on the 2005 we would have been OK.

I gotta say out of all the trucks we have owned over the year (and it has been many) this is the first one that I really love.

If you don't have it, I assume you won't receive a letter as there is nothing to remove.

Sami - Do you have the new digital Lexus Link? It may have been offered later on the 06 models - I will have my baby two years next week!

It was an option in '03, and I'm guessing most GX's didn't get it (I didn't either). IIIRC the homelink button area with the microphone for the nav system looks different depending on whether on not you have the LexusLink, and the owner's manual I believe has sketches of both varieties, so that is probably the easiest way to determine whether or not you have it.

Edit: Ignore what I wrote above, after RTFM I discovered the easiest way to tell if you have LL is to just look for the little stubby antenna on the roof. The buttons are on the sunglasses holder.

I am glad you got your truck back. If you don't mind my asking, how did they steal it? Since the vehicle is supposed to have been chipped for the ignition circuit, how did they manage to move it?? I thought this would make it pretty secure to that kind of thing. Hope no one was car jacked ... that's something that should never happen to anyone.

Hi Silverlady, My truck just turned 1 yr old the end of Aug so I'm guessing yes it's digital. I love the lexus link and will not be without it. I was spoiled with the On star so I wanted the lexus link. Now don't get me wrong the Lexus link still has a lot to learn compared to On Star but it's a start and it does what I need it to.

ADV, Long story short they got my keys. It was a major mess with Allstate because they didn't want to change out my locks they only wanted to give me a replacement key but after holding my ground and I threatened that if something happened to me due to not being able to secure my truck I would sue them. They ended up paying the 1800.00 to replace the keys and the computer. I also had very little damage to the truck when it was found. Just a dented in bumper which got replaced.
