Question Stock rims rusting?

I noticed while washing my car this past weekend that the rims are rusting from the inside out. This is happening on all 4 rims.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Anyone know if this is replaceable under warranty?

I have not seen that on mine, I would take it back to the dealer and have them replaced under warranty. They should not be doing that.

I agree...that absolutely should not be happening. Take it to the dealer, have them replace them and don't take no for an answer.

I'm surprised its not happening to anyone else. I'm definitely bringing it back to the dealer and having them replaced.

I'll let you know how I make out when I get to it.

I called the dealership and they said its replaceable under warranty. Their ordering the wheels and will put it on once I get there. It won't be for another 2 weeks though.

Mine are doing that too, but since it's a pre-owned (non-CPO) 2003, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's not under warranty.

Normally the chrome wheels do this, but take it back and have them warranty them out if your still under 5/50,000

On a related note. Does anyone know of a touch up paint color that matches the stock (non-Sport) rims. The bozos at the dealership chipped mine slightly.

This is funny... When my wife and I were shopping for CPO GX's, every truck had corroded wheels. We actually purchased the two models which didn't have the defects which you see pictured up above. I find it entertaining that every dealer in the DC area is selling CPO GX's with corroded wheels...

The rims are painted. Looks like the paint is bubbling up.

If you're under the 50K miles and 5 year mark, I'd definitely take it back. It's a lot of money to not at least try.

Perhaps you can do a deal with someone in this forum? Assuming this someone having warranty without the issue but willing to trade rims with you.

Default rims bubbling

I bought a 2004 gx last october with 36000 miles on it and all four rims were bubbling just like the above pic. The service tech said he had never seen them do that before. He thought it should be covered under warranty. Then head honcho service manager said no. It was due to someone cleaning the wheels with impropperly mixed wheel acid. It sounded like b/s to me. Any input? And can you call lexus corp. directly to remidy this type of thing.

If your car still has the national factory warranty then I'd take it to another dealership.

Corrosion Warranty on GX is 72months/unlimited mileage (see warranty book). It should be covered, right? how about the non CPOs under 72 months, can they still argue they can get replacements thru warranty?
