Default Selling GX

So after 2 years with my GX, I’ve decided to go back to a pick up. I really think that this car is too nice for me...I’m always worried about getting things dirty, making everything smell with all my bike gear. Also, the combination of the barn door in the rear and my bike rack makes things really annoying when doing anything that involves loading/unloading.

So here is my question for all the GX people. I have a 2005 w/ everything except the DVD and KDSS. I have installed the VAIS Ipod device and a nice tow hitch. The truck has about 27k in miles and is in new condition (ok, small scratch on front bumper from a rogue license plate on the highway).

Your thoughts on asking price for private sale? I know trade in is roughly 38 to 39k on KBB. I also know that I wont get nearly that much from the dealer or from CarMax, this is why I’m going to try and sell privately.

Let me know your thoughts?

Tom

This is where the high re-sale value of the GX works against you. 39K for a 2 year old car is a lot to pay. One can get a brand new one without the nav for about 2 or 3 thousand dollars more. Try to sell it yourself and test out the market, if it doesnt work out, you can always trade it into the dealer later.

Good Luck

Thanks (to the both of you) for the input. I figure I may just suck it up and take the CarMax or trade in value...who knows.

Hopefully there is a Tundra forum as good as this one. :-(

Peace,
Tom

Looking at blackbook wholesale values, your truck is worth between $36-$37k @ auction. Don't expect that much from Carmax, you'd definetly do better at an independent Toyota dealer.

Yo man, i scanned the window sticker and sent it to you. Anyone else want the specs?

To everyone else:

Yes, getting the new Tundra Limited, TRD Dbl Cab with the 5.7 V8. I drove the thing and its pretty nice...fast as hell. Its hard to make a step down in interior quality but meh, who cares. They actually integrated almost all of the GX functionality into this truck (blue tooth, Aux input, rear view cam blah blah blah). I will tell you that the seats in the new Tundra kick the crap out of the seats in the GX. So much more supportive. Oh yeah, the cup holders will hold something bigger than a 12 oz can ;-)

Side note: Can a Lexus dealer wipe the memory of the Navi? I remember this coming up in some discussions here but have not done a search yet.

Best,
Tom

Cannot go wrong with the new Tundra-awesome truck. It was that or the GX and we sided with the GX for a variety of reasons but plan on getting the Tundra next year.
tundrasolutions.com is the largest Tundra site out there. I have been a member for while over there.
