Leg room in the GX 2006
Hey guys, I just found this forum yesterday and thought it was cool and very helpful. I just bought a GX 2006 about 3 weeks ago and love it. It's beautiful, rides great and has some of the best features of most of the midsize luxury suv's. I also test drove the ML 500 mercedes and it could not compare to the lexus in options and ride. The horse power isn't even a significant difference. My question to you all is, is it me or is the leg room in this suv limiting. I am a 5'9 female and I have plenty of room but I also have the seat all the way back. My fiance is 6'3 and his knees are so close to the dash board. I use to have a Grand Cherokee Limited and the leg room was substantial. Is it me or is it a little tight for anyone over 6 feet tall.

Congratulations on the '06!
You make an interesting observation. I'm not as tall as either of you, but as you can see by my signature, I used to drive an '00 JGC at one point, and I could have sworn that the GX has more leg room. At least it appears that way.
But look what I found at Edmunds.com. The GX does have more leg room in front, but only a tenth of an inch, not nearly as big a difference as I thought.

Front Hip Room: 55.1 in.
Front Shoulder Room: 57.5 in.
Rear Head Room: 40 in.
Rear Shoulder Room: 57.4 in.
Rear Hip Room: 54.8 in.
Front Leg Room: 41.8 in.
Rear Leg Room: 36.8 in.
JGC Limited
Front Head Room: 39.7 in.
Front Hip Room: 56.5 in.
Front Shoulder Room: 58.9 in.
Rear Head Room: 39.5 in.
Rear Shoulder Room: 57.9 in.
Rear Hip Room: 50.9 in.
Front Leg Room: 41.7 in.
Rear Leg Room: 35.3 in.

same length different seat position
Thanks for the reply. You are right, the measurements are very similar. Maybe it the positioning of the seats. I do remember the jeep having more movement then the GX with the exception of the lumbar support. So maybe I feel likes it has more room. Regardless, it's a great truck and I'm sorry it took so long to buy it.

Congrats on your GX.
I am 6'5" and my wife is 6' - we both find the legroom okay, but the seat bottoms are not long enough to support long legs. The seat is also up a bit higher, so I do notice that my knees get very close to the dash. It took me a while to get use to it, coming from an X5 which has better support for long legs and a lower seating position.

Shawny,
I'm 6'3" and I'm quite comfortable when I drive. On the rare occasions I'm not the designated driver and I sit on the passenger side, legroom is limited up front especially on the right side because of the Rear Seat Entertainment electronics on the right side of the footwell.
