Default HID Conversions

Thinking about getting HIDs for my new '05 GX. Has anyone received a ticket for equipment violation?
Are oncoming drivers flashing their headlights at you to complain? Thanks in advance for your input.

I have had XenonDepot 6000K HID kit for about one month now and no ticket and no flashing headlights from the oncoming cars so far.

BTW, I followed Tony's installation guide and installed the HID kit myself in about 40 minutes.
Thanks Tony!!

Default your not going to get a ticket

Alot of us here on the GX forums run the Xenondepot.com Hid kits and not one since 03 have gotten a ticket. Dont worry about it. Cops are to busy to worry about HID lights. Maybe if you are from a small town of 500 people will the cops pull you over.

You should not get people flashing you for the HID kit either if you leave the factory settings for height alone when installing the kit. I have not been flashed once since installing mine.

Not one single oncoming flash with the Xenon Depot kit. I did lower the beam a 1/2 turn on the **** after a month or two....I just wanted a little more light down low. Never had anyone flash their lights at the original factory height either.

There's a screw on the backside of each headlight assembly. It looks like a bolt with a jagged washer behind it. Clockwise raises the beam and vice versa. I lowered mine a half turn after installing the HID kit.

getting ready to order our HID kit within a couple of Days. Debating between 4300K and 6000K. I realize that the 4300 give off more lumens and the 6000 are more of a blue color. My fx35 has 4300 and they seem to be blue enough. Hey are there any discounts to forum members? just wondering.

thanks!!

FYI, I have been using the aftermarket 6500K HID since I got my GX in 2003 and have never had a problem. Also I was a police Office for 7 years and I can tell you that the only thing I ever looked for in headlights was that they were both on. Also since most Luxury cars and trucks now come with HIDs, an officer would have to be, 1. bored out of his mind, and 2. know that the GX is one of the very few Luxury SUVs that do not have HIDs as a stock option. Lastly, I got my HIDs from Proxenon.com, and it was an absolute nightmare!!! Definetly go with Xenondepot.com, I have read nothing but good things about them. In fact I just ordered a 6000k H1 kit (it is on backorder) for the "05 LX470 I just ordered from Xenondepot.com.

Count me as another satisfied customer!!!! XenonDepot rules!!! I had some SERIOUS trepidations about installing it myself and was about to consider bringing it into dealer for install but at $150~$200 bucks a pop, I decided to take the plunge and to it myself!

Following Tony's instructions we're a breeze for installation and everything worked fine, just be sure to "normalize" the power windows as per GX470 Owner's manual (Pg. 30 ~ 32???)

Good Luck!

Proud 6000K owner...
