Back from first road trip: Big Sur, Carmel, San Fran.
Well my GX fellows. My wife and another couple will be going on our first road trip in our GX starting this Wednesday night for our Valentine's/anniversary getaway. We will be heading to Big Sur, Carmel, and San Francisco, then stopping by Santa Barbara on our way home.
The navigation will come in handy b/c we will be using that to locate restaurants nearby
I'm going to be taking out the 3rd seats for more cargo spaces.
I will make sure to take lots of scenic pictures, and will take any requests if we stop by those locations.

Are you taking coastal 1?
We did that in our GX. Carlsbad, Legoland, BigSur, Monterery... All through costal route. It was two years ago but what a wonderful time we had in our new GX over those windings and panoramic views. It also helped for breakin period. But it was so comforting that at times it was difficult to be awake.
Enjoy!!!

Lead Lap
You should eat at The Old Bath House (steak) in Monterey / Pacific Grove and/or Montrio (Italian) in Monterey if you're there in town long enough. Have a great trip.

Back from trip with pictures!
Thanks rx900, lexite, link13 for the warm wishes and all others for viewing
Got back before reading the recommendations link13. We were going to eat at the Red barn, white house, but they weren't open early for breakfast. We eat at a couple of the local eateries in Pacific Grove, Monterey, Wharf in San Fran.....I'm horrible with restaurant names
First off, I just want to say that the GX is awesome! I love the roar of the V8 engine. Passing slow traffic is a breeze!!! We were going to take their Yukon, but felt that it might not be as nimble as the GX. Thank goodness b/c the GX was perfect for San Francisco streets.
I couldn't be more happier with the nav. The touchscreen is wonderful as compared to the crummy nav in our S500 (POS). We used it almost all of the time and saved us a couple of time when we were lost.
I thought gas mileage was pretty good, b/c I only took it to 3/4 empty at 300 miles (I punched it a couple of times and we were cruising 80 mph). I was afraid we'd run empty in the middle of no-where
Here are some pictures, with some captions.
We took the 5N to the 68 or 168???
We visited Carmel, Monterey, San Fran, Pacific Grove, then took 1-PCH to 101S when heading home.
Lots of twisties on 1 coming home
We stayed at the Portola Plaza in Monterey and did our drivings from there. The Pro-Am was playing that weekend in Pebble Beach so we couldn't do the 17 mile drive
