New GX460 Interior
Well I figure I might as well post something else since I am on a posting binge right now...
I went for giggles to go see a 2015 CPO gx460 before I decided to keep my 2003 GX and just replace the suspension.
Overall it is a nice truck, but a few things really bothered me that I wonder if they bother anyone else who has seen"
1. Cargo space is much smaller than GEN1 GXs with third row seats up. (At least that was my impression.) Important to me because we have a family of 5 and take long trips quite a bit.
2. The leather seems strange in some places. Like coarse in patches. Looks good, but I prefer the soft / matching all around look.
3. 3rd row seats look like an afterthought. Lexus made no attempt to hide the mechanical underside of the seats at all. (Not a biggie.)
4. Finally I really don't like the way they used wood in the cabin. A lot of it just looks so out of place. See below picture for an example.
Not sure if you can tell from this picture, but it looks like they just slapped in a wood cover haphazardly right in the middle of a bunch of plastic in the center console. It really looks out of place. It was even worse on the truck I sat in as the plastic all around was darker.
Anyway just venting. I have really struggled finding anything comparable for when I want to replace this truck...

Never was a real fan of wood trim to begin with, unless it has a very strong contrast with the interior, or blends in (piano black or the black stained bird's eye maple on the 1st gen gx sport models)
I really dig the quality of the semi-aniline leather on the 2nd gen gx. It appears to be less prone to creasing and has some nice texture points in a few areas. Reminds of the optional premium leather used in modern Benzes, Jags and Range Rovers.
I too was checking these out, but the 2010 to 2013 was all I could afford, and I'm only a fan of the redesigned front end. I think the gigantic spindle grill really suits the car and contrary to many reviewers, doesn't look like an afterthought at all.
Maybe when I replace my 08 Sport....

I checked out the new 2015 GX prior to going with something else. I was really unimpressed with some of the things that were changed. I loved my 2006 so I guess I was expecting more with the 2015. Also some of the finishes just didn't seem up to par. I was surprised. The quality to me was just not there at lease for the one I drove.

The new 460 has the 3rd row seat mechanism in the floor, right? I seem to recall you lose 4-5" of cargo height because of it. And they're not removable, unlike in the 1st gen.
