Mine came with KDSS and towing package, the other day I was checking the manual and it specifies we should not tow with KDSS, what an irony whom should we believe, why mine came with towing package and I cannot tow

I attended a Taste of Luxury event today and there were two GX's with KDSS and towing. According to the reps there,placement of the spare tire (due to KDSS rear swaybar etc) would not allow fitment of the standard hitch. The KDSS hitch looks different,sits below the bumper like an aftermarket hitch.

I dropped off my 04 Lexus GX470 at the dealer on Friday because they said they had the hitch in stock. They didn't, nor can they get one after trying for a few days. The vehicle was manufactured Jan-04. They tried the two part numbers listed in this thread. One would not fit and would did not come up in the part system.

Does anyone know of any hitch that will work and that I can overnight to the dealership for tomorrow?

My understanding is that the hitch was an option beginning with model year '05. My dealer will not warranty (and it may void the manufacturer's warranty) an after market hitch. To convert my '04 to accommodate the Lexus hitch and retain warranty was estimated by my dealer to be around $3k. A bit rich for my pocket...

I have heard that Uhaul will install a hitch and it works, however it may mess with your warranty.

I have an 07 sport w/kdss and tow package, and the thing tows heavy loads very well. I'm going to go search my owners manual now. This has me worried.

If anything, I'd think the heavier swaybars w/the KDSS would help towing, not hurt it.

After these several years, has it been confirmed if KDSS can tow? What hitch and what weight? Full 6,500?

I’m guessing it’s a heavier rear sway bar. How can you confirm you have one?
