I was wondering if anybody has found out for sure that this will not work in an 04 LX470? I have read this thread and was wondering if anybody has done this and made it work for an 04. I do not mind cutting and grounding my brand new LX's wiring if it will work. Thanks in advance.

Well, if I can get a peek at the wiring schematic, I can tell you which wires.
I will try to find out.

They have stated that there are differences in the 04 model that make it where you can not override the safety, by just cutting the VSS and Grounding the parking brake from the deck. I was wondering if you have any experience with the 04 model LX. I can get the correct wires to cut for the vss and brake wires. I am a car audio tech and lots of experience with adding stuff such as remote starts, satellite radios, aftermarket navs in most other vehicles (they use these same wires). I just want to be somewhat sure before I go cutting my wiring behind the deck of my brand new LX that what I am going to do will work.
I have even considered removing the pins in the back of the molex plugs behind the deck as to not show evidence of tampering if I do mess something up. Know what I mean
Let me know thanks a million

Well, the way the system works in the GX is this: The nav screen is SEPERATE from the NAV system. Disabling the VSS and pbrake has NO effect on the NAV system. Simply removing these signals and grounding the pbrake wire should have no adverse effect on your system. If you feel more comfortable removing the wire from the plug first, go for it. I ran the on board diagnostics for the multi display screen, the nav, rear ent computers, etc... no codes, and no problems.

i'm probably a bit dense, but will this DVD overide switch allow me to use the navatron while in motion? Specifically, on a GX 2003 model, no RES.
Thanks!

you can set NAV from the back seat..
.. while in motion.
I discovered this on a trip over the weekend.
You have to use the remote and disable the front seat display,
then all the "greyed-out" options on the NAV screens becomde enabled.

So to re-cap all the C--P
In the 04 GX 470, we've established that the 6 page beer and wirenut fest will allow
a Front Seat Passenger to watch the DVD. If you, the driver want to watch Fright Night
at 70 MPH go for it!
Have we established that while the GX 04 is in motion, there is NO way to enter
a new address? Is this true, and if so, is there any way to overide this corporate
legal cop out, degenerate lawsuit plagued societal boil on my arse function???
Margrett... did he say Arse?? (Turn up yer damn hearing aid woman!)

yeah... uh ... I'll have what ever he's drinkin...
.
BTW,
I don't think the remote works from the front seat. It's infrared and only picks up the signal in the back,
which is where I was when I discovered this feature.
Of course, if your a contortionist...

Glug, Glug,
Squig:
I'm drink'n high test, and I get 14MPH just like my GX,
except I'm a whole lot more fun, and I can navigate with
my arse in gear.
(Hey Margrett, there he went again using that ARSE word)... I'm gonna have to take that boy out to the woodshed!
I'd really like it if I could have full functionality of what I paid over $52K for.
If somebody know if the 6 page DVD mod works on the 04's and we can
circumvent the NAV Speed Sensor to enter addresses on the fly, that
would be great!!!!
See... I not really that nutz!!
Oh and Squig - If you find a contortionist, do what I did, marry her!

As I have said BEFORE, the DVD mod DOES work on the '04 gx. As for the nav mod, Violet with red stripe should work if interupted. 5th pin top row largest connector on right of the NAV Computer under the pass. seat.

To access the diag. menus, there are 2 ways.
First way: with the key on, press and hold the info button, and turn the lights on and off 3 times.
second way: press the display button, then press the top left corner of the window under the display icons, then the bottom left corner. do this 3 times.
The switch you see in the pictures enables the speed sensor or disables the sensor to the NAV computer located under the pass. seat.
As soon as the sensor is re-enabled, the nav computer corrects itself within 10sec. or so.
Thanks to Rob for his hospitality last night. He shure has some "cool toys" to play with.

DVD Over-Ride Switch
I did this over-ride in my 2002 LX470, I just traded for a 2004 GX470, and i followed Randy's Over-Ride to the exact science, and it worked flawlessly and it tooke me just under 1 hour. The biggest time consumer was the soldering of the leads to the switch, this probablt took me 20 minutes, that including drinking the beer as the instructions stated.
These instructions are acurate and starigh forward and perfect. Thank you Randy for such a great explanation and all of yuor time and great pictures too.
