Default idiot installer

Would it be possible for someone to post a basic wiring diagram for this. I plan on doing this mod this weekend but I am still a little unser how to wire the switch.

Do you ground to the some piece of metal in the car ?

I grounded the wire to a bare metal bolt on the side of the navi. It is very obvious when you pull the navi out. I did not use a switch.

Just a note, I have never installed a car stereo in my life, let alone pull a dash apart. It is a piece of cake.

So you did not use a switch? you just grounded the monitor side green wire to a bolt? what did you do with the other end of the green wire?

I put wire nuts and taped all connections that were no longer needed. I crimped on a "U" type connector that went to the ground bolt. Let me know if you have any questions. PM me if you want.

I did this modification yesterday to my wifes 2006 GX 470. It is very easy and worked perfectly; however, the purple wire w/ the red stripe and the light green wire are on a different plug than the one circled on the picture. It is on the plug closest to the passenger side (next to the one circled). Thanks for the great instructions and pictures!

Does anyone know if the Nav overide works with an SC430? There is no DVD player in the SC430 so not sure what the button sequence might be. Any suggestions? I am waiting to hear from Coastaltech to see if they do have a cable harness for the SC430 for both Nav and Bluetooth. The lockouts on both are really a pain especially on the highway.

Ever since I did this my navi is all over the place! I was near the beach the other day and the navi had me swimming out in the middle of the ocean! So, I did a re-calibration in the menu setup, and got it back to where it should be just to have it lose th eexact location again! It's off by a street or so, and completely going the wrong way. Then, other times it's fine. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's pretty frustrating.

I just plugged the Ultimate Lockpick 3+ into my 2007 and it ROCKS! No problems with installation and performs just as described. Customer service at Coastaletech was great and shipping was fast. I recommend this to anyone who wants these options on their nav unit!

Does your 2007 GX have the rear DVD/Entertainment system?

No. I don't have the RSES or any factory DVD player. I have the the Levinson sound system with CD Changer and AUX input for iPod. I "hung" the lockpick aux RCA cables under the glove box where I can pull them out and plug in a laptop or portable dvd player to play dvd's. I need to try out a video iPod and see if that will work plugged into the factory AUX input, now that I have the lockpick installed. I don't know if the lockpick will recognize that as a video input since it's not plugged into their harness. We'll see.

Also one comment the violet wire with the red stripe is not as apparent as one might think. It is more of a violet wire with lighter color stripe (like a pinkish) at least on mine. It also has a dotted white on it.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THE WOOD PANELS. My drivers side wood panel began cracking on the right inside near the vent. There is a crease/carck mark but because it is on the side it is not noticeable. I lucked out.

Be careful and pull the panel from the bottom and gently ease it farther and farther up. If you must favor a side, (left/right) favor the left side as it is stronger.

Hey mogulbumm, have a question for you........

Did you notice whether or not the individual pins can be disengaged from the harness/plug?

If so, this would be a great alternative to cutting the wires.

Please let us know.
