Default Valentine V1 easy hardwire instructions...

Since no one ever ACTUALLY posted anything solid here is a very easy way to hardwire your Valentine V1 into the car so that you don't need to use the ugly car lighter adapter via the dome light.

1. pull down (hard) on the FRONT of the dome light enclosure (by the windshield and it will pop out (its on a velcro pull down so it pope about 1/2 to 1" down no more) then slide the whole assembly towards the windshieldand it will come out.

2. Disconnect all the plugs going to the dome light assembly (three small plugs if I remember correctly), and put the assembly aside (pref. where no one will brake it)

3. look up you will see a metal box close to the roof with a large (12 or 16 pin) connector going into the right side of it.. disconnect the connector by pressing on the tab and pulling it out... now there is a small wire loom going from this connector to a gray 6 ping connector, disconnect that too for better access.

4. Now gently open up the black sleeve going tothe large white connector (the sleeve is held together by two electrical tape ties one close to the actual connector the other towards the end of the wire so open up in between no cutting needed just separate the edges)

5. The two wires you need are BLACK-AND-RED (power on ignition - ie it will turn off when you take the key out) and WHITE-AND-BLACK (ground).

6. Use the BLUE quick-splice connector that came with your valentine one to tap into the BLACK-AND-RED wire (clamp it on) then slide the blue connector (on the RED wire from the HARD-WIRE ADAPTER that came with your V1)

7. Get a RED quick splice connector from RADIO-SHACK, etc. you will use this to tap into the ground wire. CUT OFF the FORK connector form the BLACK wire of the HARD WIRE V1 ADAPTER and now place this wire and the WHITE-BLACK wire of the car harness into the RED QUICK-SPLICE connector and clamp it one..... YOU ARE DONE.... tapping at least...

8. simply connectot the telephone-type power cable into the MAIN port of the HARDWIRE ADAPTER then gently pull the panel by the windshield down (by where the mirror wires come out ) and push the cable through to the outside.

9 tuck the HARDWIRE POWER ADAPTER and the excess wire on the left suide under the roof (there is plenty of space)

10. Reassamble everything in reverse order, ie connect the gray adapter then connect the large white adapter (just so you know this is the sunroof engine connector going to the sunroof ECU which controls jams, etc.)

11. reconnect the adapters to the DOME LIGHTS and slide the back end (ie the one closer to YOU) of the dome light assemly in place then simply POP the back end of it (closer to windshield back)

12. connecto V1 to the cable and make sure everything works....

You are DONE!!!!

Peace

BTW: WE NEED STICKYs!!! of this and similar instruction sets...

Default Thanks for the tip- I'll likely use it. One suggestion:

Pics would make a good post even better. Thanks for taking the time to write this.

are the instructions exactly the same as robinzon describes it because he posted this in 1/06 which means he did it on a 2006 or earlier GX?

Thanks.
