Question Seat deformed

2011 GX460 w/ 65k miles. . .Quality issue question for everyone: There's a noticeable deformation on my driver and passenger seat. Appears the foam is misshapen underneath the leather. Any owners out there in the same situation?

If it had a previous owner, maybe he/she was pleasantly plump.

I noticed mine started to deform, for me at least was because the way I exited the car, I used to turn my body and slide down, deforming the foam. Now I lift myself up and go over the sides of the seat and the problem fixed itself. Mine's a '15 so its still relatively new and I might now have damaged the foam that much.

Mine is the same age and miles as the OP and I haven't experienced any issues

Lexus addressed this issue i guess with injection molded foam (the name maybe wrong but the revision is plastered on the vehicle brochures) on the newer launches like the NX and RX. It suppose to address exactly this issue. I doubt it would be easy to warranty this, but its a worth a shot

I just recently bought a 2011 GX460 with 69k miles and have noticed the driver seat is having this same issue. The first picture that you posted looks to be about the same as mine and it is very annoying when I am driving because it feels like I am sitting on something. I have also noticed the passenger seat is starting to do the same thing. I am likely going to try to take it by my local Lexus dealer and see what they have to say about covering it under warranty. I certainly see this as a defect in these seats and am concerned about their longevity as we plan to keep this truck for a long time.

Has anyone had any luck getting Lexus to cover this kind of thing under warranty?

Thanks!

5-6 yrs old? Just normal wear and tear. Nothing stays new if it's being used. I've owned 3 460's, and they all do this after some time.

The GX460 is my wife's car. I drive a 2003 BMW 330 and the seats are like new. We recently sold my wife's 2002 VW Beetle and the seats were like new. I appreciate the feedback but I find it hard to believe that this issue on a $50k+ truck made by Lexus is normal wear and tear. Seems to me like more of a defect or poor design. Would be curious if the majority on this forum are also having this same seat issue.

I agree it is a poor design and I have had Lexus' for over 10 years and this is the only one that has this seat issue and I see it on a lot of GX460's. Never happened on our GX470. I do notice it happens because of the way my wife pivots and slides out of her seat which seems to disrupt some kind of foam layer under the leather cover.

Before my 4yr/50k mile original warranty expired I took it into the dealer and had them fix it under warranty. Not sure what they did but 10k miles later the foam underneath hasn't bunched up again.

I would involve Lexus Usa if the local dealer doesn't wanna fix it at 65k miles , my 2010 is250 is at 145k miles and seats are in great shape.

Update on mine.... The dealer said it was normal wear and tear, and that I could call Lexus NA if I wanted to try that route. I did.
I worked back and forth with them, sent pics, etc.
Last week they had me take it back to the dealer as the Rep would be onsite.
He agreed to replace all the padding under the front seats. They did stand firm on the actual bottom leather seat cover being wear and tear. I could have replaced that on my own dime, but 800 would cover a lot of leather work and it's not that bad. I really just want some support back in the seat.

Parts are ordered and it will be done next month during regular maintenance.

If you aren't happy with yours, it may be worth a call.

My local dealership recommended that I contact lexus corporate as well. I am currently waiting to hear back on how they will handle the situation. I am hoping experiences like yours have set a precedence with lexus. I'll post an update once I hear back from them.
