Anyone found a way to run the wire to the phone so it looks somewhat professional?
You could get a car audio guy to hardwire and tuck a cord running to your mount, but it would probably be pricey. The best I do when I use mine is to have the cord come out from the charger cubby all the way to the left so that the cord runs in between the screen and the buttons. Also if you're only making short trips you don't need to charge the phone.
A phone stuck to the dash or an air vent is never going to look very professional though. Unfortunately since Toyota doesn't want to give its customers android auto or applecarplay, it's what we'll be forced to keep doing so long as the factory nav is thoroughly blah.
It stays in place well? I would not have thought of that spot as a mounting position.
It's a little low for line of sight, but that wouldn't take up any space on the windshield, and wouldn't block any vents. Looks like a nice setup.
Agree that it is a little low, but I prefer that to impairing my ventilation. For the most part, I just need a glance for my bearing
My even odder location is on my 2002 Porsche. The nav is so old, I have the suction cup right on the radio screen! I just use FM presets and will never use that nav again, HaHa-- KH
