Are they a factory option? I thought they were a dealer option.

Pretty sure it's a dealer option.

They are not a factory option. Dealer installed, I had mine installed which are chrome
from Detroit Wheel and Tire. I had the dealer send them off.

The GX Luxury has the rims with the liquid graphite finish instead of the standard brushed chrome finish, but what OP has is a dealer option where I believe they put a darker & glossier finish on them.

Great looking GX. The V8 4 runners were great vehicles. Still can't figure out why Toyota quit making them.

How do you feel by driving GX460 compared to 4Runner? I've tried both cars, really love GX460, which is much better in handling and riding. It might be just my feel...

Quite a difference for me going from the 4Runner to the GX. In town, hands down, the 4Runner out maneuvers GX and is much more nimble. I had the Sport Edition with the XREAS suspension and combined with the V-8 all you had to do was think you wanted to make a move and it would do it. The GX drives much heavier, to me. I have had to change my driving style, less aggressive and that's probably a good thing. On the hiway, the GX wins and it's no comparison. I am very happy with the GX and glad I made the change.

I agree with this assessment totally. I also would add that the 4Runner now seems so much smaller, which probably lends to it feeling a lot more nimble. My wife is now driving my old 06 V8 4Runner & the other day she took the GX & I had to take the 4Runner. I got in & felt claustrophobic. What I used to think was a great sized truck now felt like a Mini Cooper! The GX is that much more spacious.

I have to disagree. We have a 2013 GX and bought my son a 2015 4Runner last summer. 4Runner feels bigger, especially in the cargo area. Not sure about driving feel, because he doesn't like others driving it and doesn't live at home anymore. Methinks between 2006 and 2015 the 4Runner grew a bit.

Both OP & I have/had 2006 4Runners which is why I was addressing that specific year & body style. I was not comparing the GX to the 5th generation 4Runner.

It actually got smaller.

That is a a bad-*** combination for sure (Nebula Grey with black chrome rims). Love it!

Hey All.

I have the same vehicle in the same color as seen here in the post by Jon Hul. I really want to see if I can fit larger tires in my GX as well as the f style wheels. Can anyone give recommendations as to examples or anything like that? I bought the Luxury model with the cheesy luxury model wheels and it looks like the tires are small. Any insight?!

I agree, 265/60/18 is too small for the GX. With the stock wheels I think you can run 275/65/18 which is about 5% taller and 3.8% wider and your SpeedOmeter will read 65 mph while you are traveling at 68 mph.

I think couple members here run 285/50/20 on aftermarket wheels which is about 2.3% taller and 7.5% wider and your SpeedOmeter will read 65 mph while you are traveling at 66.5 mph (not bad at all).

One think to consider about wider tires on OEM wheels may rub the Upper Control Arm and aftermarket wheels can fit that issues. I run bigger than OEM tires on my Tacoma and it actually feels better with no ill effects (of course not toooooo outrageous big and tin)

Have you seen any GX450's with BFG All Terrains? I feel like these vehicles would look great with wheel weeks that are actually filled up but I cannot find examples!
