35 here as well.
Same on my 4R which also recommends 32.

How does 38 PSI give you a less bouncy ride when the truck calls for 32? I have 22" wheels and I am running them at 32 PSI and it rides rough. Maybe I should drop down to 28.

40psi in the winter is a bad idea.

I always have Michelin tires. I do not particularly like having to add air to my tires when it is 0F degrees outside because the low pressure light is on. I have used 40psi on each GX I have owned, no issues, good gas mileage and more responsive handling. The BMW dealer we use for my wife's BMW loves to lower the pressure on her tires when we take it in even though I tell them not to so that the first cold snap we have she is complaining the low pressure light is on....

What makes it even worse is that they're lowering the hot pressure to the doorjamb recommendation. So when the tires cool off you end up way underinflated.

Yea, to me the info on the door jam is just a recommendation based on basic tires in the OEM size. I never go by that, way to soft of a ride with lots of body roll, bad gas millage and tire wear on the outside edges. I always use the tire manufacture specs and common sense based on the temperature and load. On the flip side, you don't want too much pressure or your will start wearing the middle part of the tire tread.

To me, wearing out the middle part is better than wearing out the outer part of the tire, but most importantly, by inflating my tires at least 4psi more allows me up to 3mpg gain on freeway driving.

As an example of my mpg on city/local roads around Carlsbad, CA (up/down hill, curvy, and rough asphalt roads), with average speed of 30 mph.

OEM tires and wheels @32 psi (cold): 12.5 mpg
OEM tires and wheels @36 psi (cold): 13.8mpg
Aftermarket wheels and tires (20" forged wheels/285/50/20 tires) @ 38 (cold): 14.5 mpg

I am still collecting my data on new tires for freeway driving, therefore it's TBD.
