i think the ride quality and overall comfort of the GX460 out rivals the 4runner by long shot but of course you pay for what you get. I was deciding between the two, and decided on the gx460 today... I'm back in a lexus

I did, several times. I didn't like it. Specifically, I just didn't like the drivetrain. The V6 engine doesn't have enough low-end torque. You have to beat on it to get the truck to move, but then the engine gets noisy. It needs at least one more gear in the transmission. I did like the extra space in back.
I ended up getting a Land Cruiser instead.

I am picking up a new 2016 GX Premium this week to replace my 2006 4Runner 4WD V8 Limited. I looked at the new 4Runner, but weighed the pros & cons & the GX won out. For me the biggest thing was that the 4Runner is no longer available with a V8 engine. Also, when I put together everything I wanted in the 4Runner, I was only about $10k less than the Lexus I wanted. For a little bit more, I got a better looking (in my opinion) vehicle with a better engine & a higher resale value.
