Default Here's what I'm paying for a 2016 GX 460 Premium

2016 GX 460 Premium Package - $52,900 (price offered by dealer in our local area - chicago land)

Warranty Options
5 years 100,000 – $2795
6 year 100,000 – $3185
8 years 75000 - $3495

Do you guys think Is this is a competitive price?

Would love advice, especially around how should i negotiate warranty and what is a fair price for warranty?

thanks!

I have seen discounts between 2-5k. So it all depends on your dealer. What's your MSRP?

Search around on the forum in regards to warranty, it's been discussed couple of times already. You do not need to purchase the warranty with the truck right away. You got 4 years or 50,000 miles to think about it.

Don't those warranties run concurrently with the manufacturer warranty? Complete waste of money on a Lexus. IMO.

52,900 seems like a good price. I think the Base GX runs right at 50, so without knowing the MSRP, seems reasonable.

I just bought a new 2015 GX460 on Monday. I was offered an 8 year 75k miles warranty for about $2800 and was told that the price will go up to $3500 if I choose to delay the warranty purchase. I declined thinking that the reason I bought the Lexus was because it was very unlikely to need warranty repairs. Only time will tell if I made the best choice. Loving the truck so far.

In a similar position (as far as declining the warranty goes) -- bought a gently used 2015 GX last month and also declined the extended warranty. My family has always had Toyotas in the past (the GX was actually my first ever personal "new car" purchase) so I was already familiar with the warranty options and the fact that you can buy them (1) anytime prior to expiration of the factory warranty and (2) from any Lexus dealer in the country.

While I highly doubt the extended warranty is worthwhile on the GX, I plan to sit down and decide in 3 years or so whether I want to add it and, if so, I know there are several dealers who offer the warranty at discounted prices so I will almost certainly buy it from one of them if so.

That said, we're absolutely loving this truck so far as well. These things really drive like a dream.

As mentioned above, you can buy the warranty from any Lexus dealer so the best option if you are interested in one is to shop around and see what the best price you can get is. This thread seems to identify the dealer with the lowest warranty prices currently: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...nty-found.html

As far as the pricing you're being quoted, that seems pretty fair to me for a premium. In my experience shopping around for a 2015, most dealers would go to about $3k-$5k off MSRP but few went much farther than $5k off. Bigger markets have bigger discounts so I'm sure it helps being in Chicago. With the 2016 just now hitting lots, I would say overall that's probably a pretty decent deal.
