That's what I meant to call it. Is that what you were talking about above?
The luxury has the "Adaptive Variable Suspension"

It looks like from this post here that only the luxury trim gets air suspension https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...uspension.html
CRAWL is an option with the Driver Support Package.
OK - so for towing it looks like the Luxury trim (air suspension) but no CRAWL (Driver Support Package -special order) is needed. Is that correct?

IMO you are really gonna want the premium for the air suspension and the adjustable dampers.
I put mine in sport mode while towing and it really helps controlling trailer sway.
The air suspension makes sure your always sitting nice and level.
Also make sure you get the oem hitch. The other bolt on one's from kurt and other aftermarket manufacturers are nowhere near as beefy and substantial as the oem unit.

I believe the oem hitch has a higher towing capacity then the curt one.
If you don't need the full towing capacity out of your gx then the curt is fine.
However if you are towing heavy items there is no subsitute for the oem one.

Towing 6,000lb boat
I still have my 2004 GX470, but the time to replace it is growing near. I'm considering a 2012-13 GX470 or a Sequoia. Obviously, the Sequoia is the better tow vehicle, but it is a beast and lacks some of the creature comforts in the GX.
My 2004 has the rear air suspension and the tow package included the extra tranny cooler. The luxury model is probably out of my range. Any comments on towing 6,000lbs 1-2x a month 150 miles r/t with a base GX?

My prior boat weighed 4,000 also and it was easy, although without trailer brakes stopping was challenging at times. The new boat is right at 6,000. I'm just weighing the trade offs of the higher towing capacity of a Limited Sequoia or Tundra versus the luxury of a newer GX. Pricing is about the same on 2013 GX's and Sequoia's with Tundra's being about 8k less.

Towing travel trailer
Awaiting the delivery of my new 2016 GX 460 , 2 weeks frm now. I want to tow my travel trailer (gr. wt 3500lbs). I have the dealer installing the OEM hitch for me. Do I need to get a weght distributing hitch for my purpose? Will installing a weight distribution hitch damage the air suspension in GX460? Does any one towing with GX460 have a weight distribution hitch to tow their trailer?

The OEM hitch is a Class IV. 3500 is no problem. The GX 460 towing capacity is 6500, max tongue weight is 650 pounds.
Your setup will determine if you need a Weight Distribution system:
http://www.etrailer.com/faq-weightdistribution.aspx
From the owners manual:
If the gross trailer weight is over 5000 lb. (2268 kg), a weight distributing
hitch with sufficient capacity is required.

Towing a U-Haul Trailer with the Curt Hitch
It's moving day and right about that time of the year when a lot people rent U-Haul trucks and vans for this purpose. Since this was a small move for a friend, I decided to rent a trailer instead. Plus, I wanted to test out the Curt Hitch 13043 Class 3 (5000 lbs. Gross Trailer Weight and 500 lbs. Tongue Weight capacity) receiver that I installed a while back. I wanted to see if 4 bolts to the rear of the frame can actually be strong, safe and secure enough for the task.
Here's a link to the install
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...0-hitch-3.html
And here is proof that the GX 460 is capable enough to pull a fully loaded trailer safely with driver and 2 passengers (around 200 lbs each) in the suv.
Mmm...Chrome ball mount and ball
I did not feel a need to flip the ball mount when installing the ball.
I wondered if this little trailer will be big enough for the job.
Trailer seems fairly leveled with vehicle.
If the hitch fails and falls off, the only thing towing the trailer will be the 4 pin wiring harness.
Standard 4 and 7 pin wiring harness on the GX
The trailer was far back enough for me to fully open the swing gate.
Time lapse from empty trailer to...
boxes, boxes, and boxes.
+ Fairly heavy dresser
Add some more furniture and stuff.
And fully loaded. Towing with a fully loaded trailer felt much better than an empty trailer when going over bumpy roads. The GX accelerated, braked, and turned very well with this load. I was very satisfied.
Even the GX was used to haul.
Time to give her a bath.

My pleasure. I am glad you enjoyed it. Just wanted to briefly showcase our self-installed hitches capabilities since I wasn't able to find any pictures online of it being used on our truck.
