Break in period for new GX?
Hi everyone,
I am picking up my new 2015 GX from LA this weekend. It is going to be 400 miles distance for us to drive back. Questions are 1. does the car have any break in period which limits the RPM, and speed? 2. What should I pay attention to for its first long trip? Any information helps!

Break in period GX 460
Primarily, do not drive at one constant speed for the trip. Speeds between 55 and 70 are fine. Do not down shift where you will be cranking up the rpms. This is pretty much all you need to do for the first 1000 miles. I usually try not to exceed 80 once past the initial period. I like to keep it that way until about 2000 miles. Everyone has their own idea about break-in periods. I have been driving new cars for 57 years and I always follow this pattern. I have never had a car burn oil or give me any mechanical problems. Between my wife and I we have owned 23 new cars and have always followed this pattern.

I agree with Valley101. Not ideal to have a long highway trip back home, as you want to vary your RPMs while the rings are setting in the cylinders. So as much as you can, try to change speeds/RPM's a bit during the drive - maybe take some secondary roads and enjoy some new scenery. And limit hard acceleration and hard braking while the pads bed into the brake rotors.
