Default Any GX owners with LS's?

Here's a strange one:

I live in South Africa where we have the Toyota Land Cruiser/Prado badged equivalent of the GX models, but with different engine options - I have the Prado V6 (first gen) in petrol. I also have a IS250 as my 2nd car. However, it's almost time to upgrade the Prado...

Even though these are world's apart, I'm currently torn between these 2 cars, as a replacement for my Prado: Lexus LS460 and newer Prado (2nd gen equivalent of the GX) - either will be around 2010 models here (used).

I've driven both and yes they are world's apart, but I find them strangely equally comfortable, even though one is a SUV and the other not and the LS is vastly more powerful (as the Prado comes in V6 here, not V8). Equipment levels are slightly better on the LS too, but IMO the Prado rides very, very comfortably, which is what I like and part of my dilemma. I assume the ride in the 2nd gen GX would be also identical to our Prado's here.

Just out of curiosity, anyone own both a LS460 and 2nd gen GX - care to comment? Also, anyone had a similar dilemma in choosing a GX over an LS, as strange as it sounds

Default Any GX owners with LS

I have had two LS 460 AWD. The last one purchased new was a 2012 LS AWD. A wonderful car with all the creature comforts you would want, especially if you are ordering or taking your time to look for that used one that suits your taste. I have a new GX460 Luxury. Both are great, but each has their place. The LS is a highway cruiser and with the 8 speed transmission gets good gas mileage. I had a 2011 SUV and 2012 LS. Decided I no longer needed two vehicle. Sold both and got more for them than the Luxury GX cost by about $10,000. You really can only compare the two as it relates to reliability. Their uses are far different.

LS rides much better on the highway, better seats (more comfortable) and is quieter as well. I also get better highway mileage on the LS. The GX 460 has a V8 with 300 HP while the LS has 380 HP. LS has much better acceleration and is very easy to merge into traffic, while the GX strains to do so.

Default Gx/ls

I currently have a 2007 LS, a 2010 GX, and a 2003 SC 430. I enjoy driving them all, but my go-to is the LS. Depends a lot on whether you need to haul things, ie golf bags and luggage. Trunk space in the LS is a bit lacking in my opinion, but that has more to do with the way I pack than the design.
Happy motoring in any case!
