Default New GX460 break-in period

I am aware to try variable speed and to avoid abrupt acceleration and stop during the first 1000 miles, do you guys have other suggestions on driving in the break-in period? Also I am little puzzled that how I can do variable speed (different gears) on the highway, any suggestions?

Everyone has their own theory on break-in procedures. From what I've gathered, the first 20 miles are the most crucial. Drive it like you stole it so the seals are seated properly. Of course, you probably shouldn't hit redline but maybe gun it to 4k rpm every so often. After those 20 miles, you could probably just follow the manual. But like I said, you're gonna get two answers:
1. "This has been discussed plenty of times. Do a search..."
2. Everyone else's theory.

As for highway driving, avoid it if possible. If not, just don't stay at a certain rpm for a long period of time. And be prepared to **** a lot of people off

stop and go traffic for 500-1000 miles is the best way to break in...avoid highway miles

You hit the nail on the head in your original post. Otherwise drive it like you would any other day.

Thanks Eppiegy. Asked the service manager toady as I went dealership to install cross bars, she said it should be ok, no special concerns, also ok for driving on the highway as long as it is not a trip to cross country. she was joking though, but sounds nothing special for break-in....
