So picked up a new 2014 GX460 Starfire Pearl/Sepia Premium for the wife and need to see about a roof rack for a pair of ocean kayak prowler 15. Anyone carry yaks on their GX? Trying to find a Thule setup instead of the factory cross bars. Any help?

Congrats! The factory cross bars are actually quite stout. They are way beefier/stiffer than the version that came on my T4R and they are super low profile.

I throw a Yakima Skybox on top and it's no problem. It's got the girth of a kayak, just not the length.

I did look at alternatives before settling on the stock version - basically going to cost you quite a bit more AND will sit higher. Just go to Sewell, sign up as a CL member and get a great deal.

thanks for the comments. I will probably get the cross bars and look to get the Thule or Yakima j-Hooks so I can try and squeeze two yaks on top.

On 5/30/14 I bought my wife the 2014 GX 460 Knights Armor/Sepia Premium with F-Sport wheels. I ordered the Lexus brand luggage rack crossbars and purchased a Thule Sonic Force.

I'm planning a trip to College Station with three 12yr old soccer players in late June and needed the extra storage. I'll post an update once I get back.
