I just purchased a 2010 GX460 with 63000 miles. I saw a buildup of white residue under the oil cap the day of purchase but figured it was just moisture buildup from the car sitting on a car lot and not moving much. Well, after cleaning it off, it came back. I then thought maybe there is moisture in the oil so I took it to the local lexus dealer and had the oil changed. Well, its still coming back. The picture below is buildup from 2 days of driving, I cleaned it off monday afternoon and its wednesday afternoon. When checking the dipstick, I have almost completely clear oil as its new, then about 2 inches above the oil line to 6 inches above there is more of this white stuff. Should I be worried? Also, does the lexus drivetrain warrant that lasts to 70k miles apply to 2nd owners?

checked my cap/dipstick and nothing but black at 50k miles. I think the drivetrain warranty transfers with any auto maker.

From a quick google search:

One of the next signs of a blown head gasket is contaminated oil. You will notice a milky ring surrounding your oil cap. This is caused by coolant entering the engine oil through the leaking gasket. This mixture leaves the milky ring around the oil cap when it evaporates. You can check for this by taking the car for a short drive, then checking the oil for contamination.

That would explain the problem and if you have white smoke from the tail pipe along with excessive moisture that would confirm it.

There is no smoke from the tailpipe. Im just confused at the moment and hoping it has something to do with a clogged vent line or something. A 2010 lexus thats been dealer maintained its entire life with extensive service records. A head gasket just wouldnt make sense unless its some ultra rare manufacturing defect.

I looked into this again and found the following link and it does seem plausible with what you are thinking. I would be surprised if you have a blown head gasket without the other symptoms.Please follow up with your findings.

the warranty absolutely applies to 2nd owners. take it to lexus dealer and show them the white residue. i ve never seen this before.

I ordered a test kit from blackstone and will send off my oil for sampling. They will be able to tell me everything I need to know. Once I receive that information I will either see its a non issue, or have lab papers to take to my local lexus dealer and let them know what needs to be fixed.

Either moisture residue from quick frequent trips leading to moisture buildup or Headgasket.
If you own it, deal with it by either trying a powertrain warranty claim or see if the oil or coolant is displaying similar problems through a visual. Best bet is to sample the oil or use a radiator head gasket vapor tester if your DIYing the testing bit.
