Default A GX sibling falls; Toyota ends the FJ Cruiser

I wasn't sure where to post this exactly, but since the FJ is a sibling of GX, I thought it would be fitting here. Toyota ends the FJ Cruiser in a press release:

Nice send-off. A capable truck, but it has run its course. I think Toyota would be better served by offering a relatively bare-bones Land Cruiser for $50k.

And in other news, GX sales were up 65% last month! That's huge! I guess the refresh worked.

It was a cool truck, but good for Toyota knowing when to pack it in. It also was hurting their fleet-wide MPG average when it came to CAFE restrictions so it had to go I guess.

That and lowering the entry price opened up the buying pool for a ton of new Lexus buyers. This model looks so much better than the previous generation.

I really think the lower entry price made the difference. I wish there was a break down of sales by trim.

The FJ was always planned as a one generation vehicle with no follow up. After 8 years it simply follows what was planned from the beginning. I wouldn't call it "falls" but rather a sound execution on Toyota's part :-)
