Keeping Our 2010 GX 460
Thanks for your comments about the refresh of the 2014 GX and in particular this recent information about the fate of the GX:

I've heard enough to decide NOT to trade, but rather to hold. Rather than realizing the depreciation of a 2010 in trade for a 2014, I will be putting the money into new tires, new brakes, new battery, major service, detailing, etc.
Our GX goes into the dealership on Monday to "make it new" again for us to drive for another two or three years and certainly before major wear items like battery, brakes and tires need replacing for a second time. With luck, the 2016 or 2017 model year will have something new on which to trade.

P.S. Our early-production (November 2009) 2010 GX 460 with a DoFU of February 2010 just turned 36K miles. It will be out of warranty early in 2014 and we'll be shopping for an extended warranty to last until we're done with it.

Well that's the smart move, it would be ridiculous for anyone with a 2009-2013 to trade in for a 2014 unless they absolutely HAD to have the 2014 styling. As a prospective 2014 owner, it's definitely an "upgrade" in my eyes, but I don't have a GX already. If I did have a GX, I wouldn't in for the 2014. There is really nothing to be gained mechanically/interior-wise going from a 2009-2013 to a 2014. It was pretty much a styling refresh, that's it.
Also, I would not call your 2010 GX "early production". That sort of label usually applies to the first 6 months of the first model year.

keeping my current 2010 gx makes the most economic sense.
as much as i want the newer one, i will hold back for now, especially since the model is going
away 2016
that $20K could be better used for thousands of diff things.
hats off to anyone who could care less about the $$ here and take a big hit on the upgrade...

After lurking here for a few months and having some discussion, we have made our decision. While the new 2014 is better looking than the previous, its just not big enough for what we want. Also, the sideways rear door is a killer for us. We just can't get over that hump of a poor design choice. We have chosen to go with a 2013 LX570, and will wait for a deal to materialize in the next few months. While we will certainly lose some MPGs, we will gain vast amounts of room and comfort. Additionally, a power proper hatch in our eyes too. Good luck with your decision though. I do believe if I was in your shoes, I too would keep what you have. Much like I still have my 2006 LS430, and do not see that that one going away for a while.

I just got back from dropping our 2010 GX at the dealership for ... well, whatever it needs to keep it "like new" for another two to three years ... tires, battery, brakes, major service, detailing, etc. The dealership won't get as much as if we had traded "as is" on a 2014 GX, but their Service Department will be happy with what they get.
We expect to follow Randy B 'up' to the LX in a few years, but not until their next major re-design. One of our reasons is that we plan to move before then to a property with a much larger garage ... large enough to swing open all side doors AND the rear door on our GX. It will also accommodate an LX.
Until then, we're delighted with our GX. We've owned ten Lexus and this is the best, which also means it is the best vehicle we've ever owned. You may expect to hear from me on this forum for a few more years.

remember, your powertrain warranty is still good fo 6 years/70,000 miles
