Oil Change : independent mechanic and warranty
anyone knows for sure if the warranty is affected in case if I service my car at independent mechanic. Considering they are very experienced, right type of oil, everything is right - these guys are around for long time and 100% feedback, and lots of ppl with Lexus service their cars there - basically it is even better and cheaper than at Stealership. Any cases Lexus refused warranty repairs due to service place choice????

I would have them use the factory oil filter and drain plug gasket that can be purchased from any Toyota dealership. I would also use 0W20 synthetic oil as well. If you have a record of it, there won't be any problem using an independet shop. I live 120 miles each direction from my Lexus dealer and take mine to my local Toyota dealer for oil changes unless I need other service from the Lexus dealership.

Lead Lap
The only benefit to me of going to the dealership for routine maintenance is that they will goodwill certain things if something breaks or is a problem that is not under warranty.

If anyone has changed the oil, you know what a PITA the filter is. This tool should help a lot. I purchased one but have not used it yet. Looks pretty good for $20.
