Default Hurricane Sandy and gas shortage in NY

It's been kind of rough in my neighborhood with no electricity and a shortage of gas by thank God my family is ok and my house only had some minimal damage. My thoughts and prayers are with the other families that weren't as fortunate as I was. My question is, every time I go to a gas station if I am lucky, all they have is regular gas. I know the GX only takes premium, what can I do to remediate this issue? My neighbor suggested putting regular and using an octane booster to bring the octane higher. Is that a good idea? As of this posting I have one quart of tank left. I need to drive at least 50 miles a day to work and there isn't any other way to get to work at this time. Should I put regular and the octane booster? Is that going to damage or void the warranty in any way? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Regular gas every once in a while will not hurt anything. You can add the booster if it will make you feel better but there is no need.

Please take care. Family always comes first then, way down the list are your vehicles.

You'll be okay if you stay out of the throttle. The car will pull timing to prevent knock, but if you don't drive aggressively it shouldn't knock anyways.

Drive up to Danbury, CT - there is plenty of gas there in all different grades and without any lines. Drive 15 miles over the border to Katonah, NY and you'll see gas lines.

Alternatively, I hear there's plenty of gas south of exit 6 on the NJTP.

It was pretty rough a few days ago where I am but it seems to be back to normal thankfully.

Glad you and the family are alright

Thanks again for all you replies. Gas is much better to get now and finally I got my power back. Good luck to all.
