I still have this "light, grinding noise" as you described in my 2014, now 11,000 miles on it.
Driveability is fine, and it does not seem to affect oil or fuel consumption. Dealer says there is no issue. I guess I'll just live with it and hope for the best.

At the stop sign/light or in parking lot. You are in Drive and it idles at around 700/800 RPM (normal) you will hear this "thump thump thump" noise, very fainted noise. To best hear this noise you need to be at a quiet place and turn OFF everything inside (radio, AC fan..). It drives fine, oil change at defined intervals.
Is it something wrong or normal? Can you hear that?

I haven't heard anything like that but can you sense it is coming from a specific area of vehicle?
Bring back the old post ..but I have this similar noise in my '15 since 10k miles or so. It is at 25k miles now.

I have this same noise you describe exactly. Slight grinding/ pumping noise like a pump is working to hard. I usually only notice it when i first start using the vehicle but sometimes even after I have been using it throughout the day. I havent taken it too lexus as I feel they will not necessarilly hear it. I can only hear it in the cabin not when I pop the hood. What pump could it be or anything else? And it is a separate noise from RPM. If anyone was able to diagnose that would be amazing. Could it be the waterpump? 2012 gx460 67K

Not sure if Toyotas do this but I know Nissans have a ABS self-check logic that makes some ABS actuator noise first starting out.
I'll have to listen for something similar on the GX.
This would explain it better for Nissan method. I'll have to look through FSM to see if anything similar shows up.

I have replaced the water pump, fan bearing assembly and the fan clutch as part of preventative maintenance but the noise is still there.
