I believe what he is asking is when you change to a larger size tire does the GX throw any codes in which would turn on an idiot light.

No idiot light, 10K miles and everything is fine. Actually, even if someday I do not need LTs and need to replace the tires, I will put these same tires back on. The overall ride (towing/non-towing, off-road and highway) is excellent!

i would love to put wider tires, but our rims only 7.5 inches wide and 265 is max tire size width safely can be put on. anything higher, risk of tire blow out goes up. not a chance to take when driving at 80 mph, and the heat buildup causes tire expansion, further increasing risk.

now if your insurance company finds this out, that u put wrong tire size and have accident, will they pay out? if they have good lawyers, likely not.

The bigger LTs I put on are wider than the OEM size and they are perfectly safe to use with the OEM 7.5" rims. Both sizes (OEM and 275/65/18 LTs) have the same minimum rim size rating. Also, being they are LTs they can carry more weight safely which makes them less stressed at normal weights.

I really like your tire and brake changes. Thanks for you posts; they have been very helpful.

I just ordered the LTX MS2's 275-65-18 from Costco and they asked what they were going on and told me it was a bigger tire than OEM, I told them I knew and I knew they would fit and then there was no futher questions asked. They will be in tomorrow so I guess I'll have them put on tomorrow afternoon.

Odd because Costco is usually picky about putting the same size OEM tires. I guess the MS2's didn't have 265's?

Since it seldomly rains here in California and I like a better handling tire, I may just go for the Latitude Tour HPs

They have the OEM size in the MS2's. According to Costco's website it's up the the store tire manager as to what they will install on a vehicle.

Hi Koz,

I am a new member and in the process of purchasing new rotors for my truck. I came across your photos and would like some more info. Could you please let me know how your rotors and brake pads are holding up? Approx how many miles do you have on them? And, in your opinion, are they better than the OEMs? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, the after reading about everyone's Michelin LTX M/S2 experience, they will be my next set of tires. Thank you.

PS: Has anyone on this board tried Brembo or EBC rotors on their GX460? And if so, how do you like them?

I have StopTech rotors and pads on all four corners of my T4R and they work great - basically the exact same brake setup as the GX. That said, unless you need to replace the OEM rotors and pads, they are normally very good.

I had specific issues that couldn't be fixed so I opted to try the switch and all is good! If I had to do it again I would probably go with EBC yellow pads as I have heard good things.
