I also doubt the GX will be 'canned' but Lexus/Toyota may be reluctant to make any more investments in such a specialty vehicle. What seems likely is that they will make incremental rather than fundamental improvements. The improvements you mentioned are likely ... re-designing the GX as a unibody is unlikely, as is another 'new' design such as when they went from the 470 to the 460.

All things being equal, which they never are ... we would be shopping for a 2014 to replace our 2010 before the full warranty expires, but that presumes the 2014 is "different enough" from the 2010 to make it worth realizing the depreciation. There's little benefit to trading in an older vehicle and buying a new vehicle if they are indistinguishable!

If the 2014 is "more of the same" we might hedge our bets by purchasing an extended warranty for a year while we wait for the 2015. However, if the 2015 is also unchanged ... well, at that point we may be forced to consider alternatives, but there are very few. The LX is too large, the RX is a crossover ... what would be an "exit strategy" after a GX?

All due respect, this isn't a specialty vehicle. It's the Land Cruiser Prado, a vehicle Toyota mass-markets in Britain, Asia, and many other parts of the world. It's simply up-gauged and re-badged as a Lexus nameplate in North America, so it's not as much of a "niche" vehicle as you might think.

I think you are right and I certainly hope you are right. If the GX was only available from Lexus I would be concerned about its longevity, but considering the Lexus GX is just a small part of the Prado market, there is more demand than meets the eye:
