Default Tipping over / Stability in turn situations

Just wondering here, has anyone had any problems with their gx 460 in turns or fast lane changes on the freeway. I'm worried about the stability and tipping over since the GX seems higher and skinnier than other SUVs in its class.

While I don't own a GX460, I have driven several fairly extensively. I would say it feels very composed in maneuvers. Especially if you have the adaptive variable suspension set in Sport. This tightens everything up pretty noticeably in my opinion.

No it's not a GS350 F-Sport, but it definitely felt more composed and buttoned down than I expected.

I have pushed my GX beyond its limits and I can tell you the GX is very stable and predictable. The nannies will step in and keep the vehicle from losing stability under an average over-speed. With the KDSS, AVS, air springs and the nannies, the GX is more stable and predictable then many other SUVs in its class (including the 4Runner). The GX may look higher and skinnier then other SUVs but it is about average.

Frank:

You may recall that the GX460 was recalled for stability control updates, which was completed in the summer of 2010 and was extensively covered by the media and in this forum. Even Consumer Reports was convinced ... and their idea of an ideal vehicle is a Prius for the Pius!*

If your driving style is more extreme than what was demonstrated here, the GX 460 would not be a good choice for you. However, it handles emergencies as well as you could expect any body-on-frame truck ... understeering and 'drifting' with lots of tire smoke, squeal and drama, but it won't flip ... unless you hit a curb!

Ultimately, the laws of physics dictate what you can achieve with a specific vehicle. The GX 460 is not and can not handle and steer like a low-slung sports car, but in a highway emergency ... which would you rather be driving?

SaniDel

* I read this insult in Paul Ingrassia's book "Engines of Change" which I highly recommend:

Great thanks for your replies. As you might remember, I was looking for a GX last year, but decided to purchase another SUV. I ended up getting the other SUV, but now am looking at replacing another vehicle and still may end of with a GX.

I was really asking if anyone had any incidents with their GX where they had to turn abrubply and how stable it felt considering how high the GX looks.

No problems at all, love the GX. I drove in snow and then on the wy back onI80. Only thing I noticed was the inability to maintain speed on inclines needed to put it in low gears.

Once I tried to take a exit athigh speed and there were no issues, all electronic nannies intervened and there wasn't loss of control. Well if you drive this SUV like a car then there will be a different result.

I have had no incidents but it is not going to handle or drive like your other SUV, probably not even close. What it will do is handle better than your other SUV in bad weather conditions where you really need a 4 wheel drive truck. How do you like your SUV, any issues?

Haha. Do you remember what I got patgilm? It's a much different SUV than the GX. Actually, total opposite. I'm still in the market for a GX, but waiting for the right time to make my move.

I do remember which is why I said it wouldn't even be close. It probably handles better than my LS! Any issues with it so far?
