I think the underlying problem with this GPS is that Lexus "wrote" it - tried to reinvent the wheel - instead of buying and installing units from one (ahem, perhaps Garmin) that is superior to most (if not all) systems on the market. That may be easier said than done but, come on, Lexus is a great, luxury vehicle with a 3d rate GPS in it. (Sorry to keep my rant alive but the GPS is an inexcusable, inferior attribute for such a car IMO.)

I find the GPS to be adequate. I suppose it's because I never purchased a Garmin in the past but for the most part, I get from point A to B just fine.

I agree, it's adequate but then so is a 1988 Dodge (I guess, never had a Dodge) with 120,000 miles on it. Lexus is far above adequate as far as transpertation IMO.

I have to admit I'm a Garmin lover and was spoiled by them too before I bought my GX.

Ha! Good point and very true that the Lexus is far above adequate. I'd probably feel the same way you do if I had owned a Garmin prior to using the Lexus navigation. I know my dad prefers to use his Garmin even when renting cars with built in nav.

Hello everyone im new here. I used to drive 2013 GS but I ended up with 2010 gx . Im really happy with it. But the 2 things that i don't really like are 1-the LCD display and 2-backup camera

My qustions are
1- Can I upgrade my LCD with much sharper and more clear screen display?

2 - can i upgrade my backup camera with new 2014 backup camera that has lines?

Welcome to Club Lexus Aligold! Congrats on the purchase!

You can probably switch out the infotainment system with one from a 2014+ and get the better display. I am not sure if the 2014+ has guide lines with the backup camera, but my guess is that if it did, and you swapped the hardware from yours to a 2014+, you would get that functionality. However, I don't believe that anyone here has swapped hardware from a 2010-2013 to 2014+.

thank you so much for your respond . i did find some 2014+ backup camera on eBay for a reasonable price . and if i swap the entire system that would be cost arms and legs.

Never sit in a 10-13 GX, but the backup camera & screen of 14+ GX is a little better than the average. However, it is nowhere close to that in my phones (no vehicle can). I dont know if it is worth to change them.

OP seems to enjoy way more GX than GS. Can you explain a little of that?

So on 16 Dec i had the battery cables off the battery to fix some severe corrosion. I cleaned and put dielectric compound on and hooked it back like normal. The radio/nav went through its initializing sequence with no obvious problems to me. On 21 dec I was in a parking lot and the volume/power **** would not work, would not adjust volume or turn the audio off. The tune button would not work either The steering wheel controls still did work though. I think i wound up pushing the power button and the load button at the same time and things starter working. a couple times since then i would be listening to FM and it would switch over to bluetooth and kick out the CD that was in the changer, and then switch modes to satellite. It has done a couple different renditions of this and is never really the same. I'm still trying to get a video of this. I did take out the cd and have disconnected the battery to reinitialize the audio/nave unit. I have not seen any other problems with the other features. So anyone have any tidbits of information on this? Its a 2010 base model with NAV and 77K miles.
