Default GX460 Premium versus Base

Hello all,

I thought I posted this thread yesterday but somehow ClubLexus lost it.

How can I tell whether it is Premium or Base by LOOKING at PICTURES?

Thank you,

From the exterior on a 2012, the easiest way is the bumps in the bumper for the headlight washers, the chrome trim on the very back windows goes all the way up the side of the windows as opposed to stopping at the end of the horizontal bottom part of the window and the wheels are a little deeper silver color (although you probably can't tell this in pictures).

From the exterior on a 2010 and 2011, the easiest way is the addition of the door molding about half way up the front and rear doors.

Don't be fooled by the door molding on the 2010s. Many of us added the mmolding to the base model. The window chrome is the only way I think for sure you can tell from the outside except something within the headlamps but I'm not sure I could tell by looking at the headlamps. Maybe it's that bump the pp mentioned.

I THINK for 2012, they all have the molding but the premium has the chrome on it and the base has no chrome.

hth!

If you are choosing your GX trim line by the outside of the car, you should stick with a base. You can add the door moldings, roof rack and HID lights later. It's not hard - I did it myself.

Now if you are choosing your GX based on technology, depending on your usage, the GX premium is pretty awesome. From Crawl mode, I doubt most will use it, to all the safety features, to terrain cameras etc etc etc. Then premium is the way to go.

One thing I wish I had was crawl mode.

Crawl control and wide-view monitor system are optional on the Premium (I had to special order mine to get these options). They both work great for off roading.

The difference between the premium and base model is; 3 zone climate control, power folding side mirrors, illuminated frond door sills, cargo cover, semi-aniline leather, heated wood and leather steering wheel, heated/ventilated front seats, heated middle row seats, rear A/C, HID/adaptive/auto leveling headlights with washers, more chrome trim on rear quarter glass, AVS (adaptive variable susp) and EMRAS (auto leveling rear air susp).

The Premium weighs 35lbs more and is approx 1/2" shorter in height.

Default Gx

Does having a power third row seat mean it is Premium vs no prem?

Also, I have looked at several pics online and some of the 13 GX have 4 controls just to the right of the gear shift **** and some only have two. The two ***** I have seen are Down hill asst/uphill asst and then the 4wd low vs high gear. Not sure what the other two switches are.
Thanks for everyones help in advance. I am going to the auction in the morning and I have found a beautiful white 2013 with only 28K and trying to figure out if ti is premium or not.

Default Premium vs Base

One of the replies asked if power 3rd seat equaled premium. If it has power 3rd row seat it is the Luxury edition.

Where did you source the door moldings? Does it just stick on? (sorry for the hijack)

I know it's easy to change, but I believe the base comes default with 6-spoke wheels while the Premium comes with split-6-spoke wheels. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though. The luxury comes with basically the same wheels as the premium except they have a different finish.

If so, it wouldn't necessarily help identify a premium/luxury with any certainty but may help identify a base (if it has the base wheels, it's most likely going to be a base -- can't imagine why anyone would downgrade the wheels).
