Default Valentine 1 Hardwire Question

Hi guys I just bought a new GX460 last weekend and need to have my Valentine 1 installed. I purchased a BlendMount (fits perfectly) and I also purchased one of the Stealth Cords to have it hardwired into the rearview mirror. Can anyone tell me which wires on the rearview mirror wire harness plug and the positive and negative (the colds do not make any sense). I don't know how to use a voltmeter so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Brandon

Set the meter to DC volts (approx 15 volt range) and attach the black lead (of multi-meter) to a good ground (any metal brace or bolt). Then just touch the red lead to the wires in question. You will get approx 12 volts when you find the right wire.

Hard wire (tap in) to the cigarette lighter and then easily you can find a place for stealth display to mount near by. I don't have my GX anymore so cannot show pictures but may have posted one in DIY.

This is what I did. Tapped into the lighter with a t-tap (radio shack) and ran a phone wire inside the passenger side "A" pillar, then in the front of headliner. Undetectable and when I sell/trade the GX I just remove the wire.

Congrats on an easy install!

I did my Valentine One hard wire to the fuse box using a "add-a-fuse" tap. Grounded the negative wire and connected the positive to the tap that went into the p/outlet in the fuse box, it took me 20 minutes, no splicing of the gx's wiring.
I know the only thing I need is a Blendmount. I don't know if they make one for the 460, the 470 is in their data base, don't know if the GX470 has the same kind of mirror or post as the 460.

Does anybody know how the pillar cover comes off? I'm going to run my wire up the cover to behind the mirror.

You don't have to remove the cover. If you're running it from the cig lighter, run it up the weather stripping near the door, tuck it under the "top" of the pillar cover, then tuck it under the headliner until you reach the mirror. Use a popsicle stick or a plastic trim tool to tuck it. This is how I did it and it's invisible.

Thanks, I am going to add a circuit to the fuse box and run it up the drivers side and up. I guess I'll see how it goes.

Make sure you tap a circuit that is only powered when the ignition is on. There is usually a circuit you can tap off right in the rear view mirror column/cover.

I forgot to mention that you could buy the "savvy" from Valentine Research and all you have to do is plug it into the OBD port of your GX. It was so easy and it gives you the added benefit of an extra port for your V1 and the mute feature that you can use when traveling at different speeds.
