What is the name of the place you went to and where is it located?

Last Friday I installed the body side moldings on my wife's MDX. The part came with two templates so it was fairly easy to do. See the picture.

My first takeaway from this experience is that the double-sided tapes should definitely work. The MDX moldings use only tapes so there is no reason why they don't work with the GX.

Though GX doesn't have templates, I don't think it is hard to mask the locations following the diagram. Basically you need to do 3 measurements ... the height and the positions of two upper corners. If the measurements are off by a couple of millimeters, the naked eyes cannot tell the difference. In the MDX case, even the factory templates are not precise.

So ... I feel pretty comfortable now. Do you plan to pull the trigger? We have not got a group yet for a group buy .

The GX doors are a bit more curvier than the mdx's doors - it will be a bit trickier. good job on those ones though. I guess the tough part is sawing off the clips from our moulds and to make sure they're even on both sides during application. those moulds u put on the acura, will it stay on after pressure washing it?

All post-delivery moldings are taped to the body so I believe they can handle pressure wash (assuming you don't deliberately direct the high-pressure streams at the seams ).

The Lexus dealer called me yesterday saying they can order the moldings and have a body shop install it. Parts + installation run about $1000. That particular body shop will drill holes on the doors.

the moldings apparently require some drilling in the door, as the body shop you mentioned would do.

those after market moldings look horrible. i saw some on a gx over weekend. just get the real stuff from lexus.
