It's funny, I've had my GX for 4 years and never really noticed the tacky V8 badge. I'm glad to see it gone.

The chrome exhaust tip is an option on the new GX, just as it was on the 1st gen.

I see the 2nd gen GX as a natural evolution, not a radical departure.

Nice to see it side by side. Looking at the first pic, the 2nd gen looks like an ugly fish with big eyes staring back at you. The rear of the 2nd gen shows a box-like structure for plates, reminds me of those crypts in mausoleum where cremation ashes are kept. The 1st gen lines has a smoother flow to it while the 2nd gen looks boxy.
Interior designs are totally different, the 2nd gen looks impressive while 1st gen is outdated.

The perfect vehicle for me would be to have the exterior of the 1st gen and the interior of the 2nd gen.

Regardless, I would still probably consider buying the 2nd gen GX in 5 years. Hopefully there are more and better choices then.

Styling is subjective, but personally I see the exterior of the 1st-gen as being more dated. I really dislike the fenders on the first gen; they don't look integrated with the body, and look like they were tacked on. The 2nd-gen to me looks tougher, more expensive, and more luxurious/elegant all at the same time.

The 2nd gen is luxurious/elegant?

I agree with you 100%, it is very subjective.

I wouldn't say the 2nd gen is beautiful or a classic lexus design, but it is very good looking from most angles, and the more I see it, the more the old GX looks outdated and cheap. Plus, the second gen has an agressive touch to it, while the first is too laid-back looking.

The design of the headlamps are functional. The design was done to keep the height of the projector beam low and wide for better visibility.

If the projector beams were any higher, and HID's would not have been an option like the previous GX and previous and current LX.

That's effective design at its best; the detail is in the design. Lexus has "improved" the GX, but how much? In looking at the two side-by-side, the differences are few. The 2G looks more pronouned, shorter in inital height and wider. It drives nicely, but under normal braking, the front end tended to dip a bit much for my liking. IMO, the interior looks worlds better than the 1G; I wonder if Lexus will offer a hybrid model?

That's what I have read as well, but they could have done a better job at it by designing the headlight assembly around the actual lamp. To me, the front looks really ugly and the rear looks too boxy. The pros are the sides look clean and the interior is nice. Hopefully, Lexus change the front fascia before it is time for me to replace my current one.
