I don't see why not. The wheel well size is pretty similar to the previous generation.

Video coming. I will post links to the Lexus videos of the GX once they are loaded.

Mine is beginning to feel a tad "loose" compared to how it felt 6 years ago.

The new look in person is a lot different from what you see in pics. Of course everyone judges the looks of cars by how they see it in pictures, but not in actual reality. The new GX is a pretty good looking SUV. The lines go really well and has gained a more muscular look.

  • New 4.6-Liter Engine and 301-hp V8 with Six Speed Transmission
  • New Standard Power Fold-Flat Third Row and 10 Airbags

TORRANCE, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2009) – Lexus today announced the manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) for the all-new, second generation 2010 GX 460 luxury utility vehicle which will arrive at dealerships beginning in late December. For the first time, the GX will be offered in two grades, base, which will carry an MSRP of $51,970, and Premium which will be priced at $56,765. The MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $875. The all-new GX 460 will be on display for the first time in North America at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show in December.

The second generation GX 460 that is more powerful, more efficient and more luxurious will be powered with an all-new 4.6-liter V8 engine. The engine will produce 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of peak torque. It is teamed with an efficient six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift that helps
provide the best-in-class V8 fuel economy. Combined city/highway fuel economy is improved by 13 percent to an EPA-estimated 17 mpg. The GX 460 has an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city and 20 mpg.

In addition to the powerful engine, the GX 460 brings more versatile interior. The second row
seat slides 4.1 inches fore/aft to maximize passenger and cargo carrying ability. The foldable and reclining second row seats feature a 60/40 walk-in function to access the standard power fold-flat third row seats.

standard on the GX 460. Safety features available include the Pre-Collision System, wide-view front and
side cameras, Lane Departure Alert and Intelligent High Beam. Among the new luxury options are semi-
aniline leather, a heated steering wheel and heated outer second-row seats.

The exterior of the GX 460 demonstrates new convenience and styling features such as the rear
glass hatch for easier access to the cargo area, integrated rear door handle and rear spoiler with
integrated wiper. The GX color palette is also revised and includes two all-new colors: Knight’s Armor

Lexus Enform™ with Safety Connect™ is an all-new telematics system available by subscription.
Lexus Safety Connect is standard on all GX 460, while Lexus Enform is only available with navigation-
equipped vehicles. Complimentary one-year trial subscriptions of Lexus Enform with Safety Connect are

Twenty teams of Lexus specialists will hit the road on Jan. 13--the start of a month-long process to prep dealership personnel on how to create buzz for the redesigned 2010 GX 460 mid-sized SUV.

Though the GX has been on the market since September 2002, managers at Toyota Motor Corp.'s luxury division still believe retailers do not understand all of the vehicle's attributes. U.S. sales of the existing GX 470 fell 61 percent this year through October from a year earlier.

“A good part of our training is to teach the sales people how to relay the message,” said Charles Hubbard, a member of the Lexus College team.

The redesigned vehicle comes in two trim levels--base and premium. It goes on sale in late December, but most of the initial units will reach dealerships in January.

Key new features include a 4.6-liter, V-8 engine making 301 hp. That compares with the 4.7-liter V-8 delivering 263 hp on the GX 470. Torque on the 2010 model rises to 329 pounds-feet from 323 pounds-feet on the predecessor.

Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the more-powerful new model also gets better fuel economy: 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, compared with 14/18 for the 2009 model equipped with a five-speed automatic. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard, up from 17-inchers.

Inside, third-row seating is standard; the outgoing GX 470 has an optional third row. Cargo space in the new model shrinks by nearly 13 cubic feet, but legroom is up 4.4 inches in the third row. The transfer case is push-button compared with the current manual levers.

“We still think there is an audience that wants a more rugged vehicle,”
said Mark Templin, general manager of the Lexus Division. “We made it more rugged and more fuel efficient.”

Many other goodies

The Lexus College folks have their hands full. High on the list is the kinetic dynamic suspension system, an optional feature since 2003 but one that few dealers ordered. The system helps keep the vehicle stable and gives it a firmer feel for better handling. Lexus made it standard for the 2010 model.

“Most dealers didn't understand it and wouldn't buy it. That's why we made it standard,” Hubbard said. “If you don't have it, it's a world of difference. Without KDSS, the car is floaty. It leans when you go into curves. With KDSS, the vehicle is flat.”

Another big story, Hubbard said, is the third row seats that fold flat with the push of a button. Because of the GX 470's solid rear axle, the seats could not fold flat. The floor was elevated three inches to allow for the fold-flat function.

“This is big news,” Hubbard said. “People have asked for this for years.”

The back window flips open for the first time, allowing people to access the cargo area without having to open the back door.

Other new features include optional crawl control for off-road driving. Drivers can manually input the speed from 1 mph to 3.7 mph, and the computer will automatically control the brakes and accelerator, allowing the driver to concentrate on steering. The computer guides the GX 460 through mud and ruts.

There are optional front- and wide-view side cameras, which can be manually operated for speeds under 6 mph, which helps with parking and blind spots.

New for 2010 on the safety side are active front headrests. Ten airbags are standard.

Standard entertainment equipment includes a nine-speaker audio system with a six-disc CD changer, Bluetooth, XM radio and iPod connectivity. Optional equipment includes a 17-speaker system and a rear-seat entertainment system with two seat-back mounted screens.

“The GX470 was very popular for us,” Templin says. “The segment has declined dramatically. This is the product that will continue to bring out young, affluent families.”

The market

The 61 percent decline for the GX 470 through October brought total volume to 5,524 for the year, well below some competitors. The Acura MDX sold 24,814 units, down 38 percent. BMW X5 sales were down 23 percent to 20,787.

Templin expects sales of about 14,000 units for calendar year 2010. He said about 50 percent of the sales will come from existing Lexus customers. He said the base model at $52,845, a 9 percent price hike over the 2009 model, will be the best seller. The premium trim level, which wasn't offered for 2009, will list for $57,640. All prices include $875 for shipping.

It is not listed in the preliminary specs, but being the Remote Start feature is a port installed or dealer installed option, it should be compatible like the RX and LX.

I agree. Toyota/Lexus are really putting out horrible designs over the past 5 years or so. Before the "L-finesse" crap, Lexus had some very good looking cars/suv's.

The exterior of the new GX is awful. I was really hoping I would like either the new 4Runner or the GX..but both are a bust for me.

The SC is now officially the only current model in Lexus's lineup that I love. Lets hope they don't screw it up with it's replacement.

It may only be 2 hp, but it's not 9 hp less like the GX460 on PREMIUM GASOLINE. I'm not saying it's a real big deal, but if I were a lexus exec why would I let toyota have a perceived hp advantage running regular gas. Why not just put the toyota version of this engine in the GX and run it on regular (more hp, 10%+ less fuel cost). Hey it may only get 17 mpg, but it runs on regular. Also, this vehicle has not been refreshed for 7 years and this is it...
It does sound like you're making a big deal over 9 less hp.

But be confident that in reality, the the GX460 makes more power in the right places than the simple ratings indicate. In this case, it's all about low rpm torque and more overall power under the curve. And more MPG efficiency for the premium gas you're paying for. These are things that are not readily reflected in two simple numbers, but rest assured, that toyota knows very well what they are doing.

It's a balance in calibration and tradeoffs. But this application has to hold to different demands than the tundra. Lexus could could have easily slipped the tundra calibration into the GX, but instead took the time to make a tailored calibration.

Also the GX460 having a high compression motor, premium unleaded fuel is a must. If premium unleaded is steering your decision away from the GX, then it's not for you.

All this said, I'm still probably going to get one (I do like the interior). I'm just disappointed (engine, exterior, rear barn door)... I was hoping for so much more.
As I stated in my previous post... I am probably going to get one, but was hoping for more. Actually I wanted the 5.7 and the gas mileage that goes with that engine. I don't mind paying for premium fuel also. I'm one of those fools that can feel (perceived feeling) the engines running smoother on premium. 9 hp isn't a big deal and I like the extra 2 ft lb of torque. I also believe that the entire torque curve might be better where it counts most, but I am confused as to why the Toyota gets the bragging rights here over the Lexus. Both engines have a compression ratio of 10.2 to 1, but one uses regular and the other premium with the premium car getting 9 less hp. Maybe I am still hoping that it's a typo 310 not 301?.?. I know it's not a typo. I read someone elses post that mentioned the exhaust gas receirculation is only on the toyota engine and that might cause the difference. Either way my driving style probably wouldn't use the extra hp anyway. I don't think I've ever pushed the wifes RX over the 3500 rpm mark. I'm just questioning the rational that the lexus would have a lower advertised hp number with a comperable engine running premium gasoline. I guess it's like the 4.7 in the old tundra and the GX470. The GX470 has 263 on premium, but the tundra got 270.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is weird, but I think the GX is the only vehicle in the Toyota/Lexus lineup of comparable engine/vehicle that has a lower advertised hp number than it's toyota counter part running on regular. I also think that if Lexus wanted the engine to make 310+ hp they could have and I'm not sure why they didn't.

The full MSRP 2010 Lexus GX 460 pricing has been out since at least 1pm eastern this afternoon:
http://www.lexus.com/models/GX/features/pricing.html

Base + Rear AC + HID + Wood steering/shifter + Comfort Plus + Conv. Pkg + ML/NAV = $59345

Prem + NAV/ML = $61,570

Wow.

It's hard to believe that these vehicles' prices increased by 10K. That is a LOT.

This price hike is quite disappointing.

At these prices, I may as well buy the Range Rover Sport.

I hope Lexus deals on these.

I am curious as to what the invoice/msrp spread will be... I think Lexus may be getting a bit overconfident here. I love all the features, but this thing simply does not look like a $60k+ vehicle, particularly with those recycled, plain, undersized 6-spokers. Time will tell! I'm holding out until at least '11 when the warranty on my '04 will expire.
