Smile Seized Rear Wiper Arm and Shaft Repair

The rear wiper stopped working part way up on my 2006 GX470. My girlfriends 2006 GX470 also quit the same week. I was unable to find this fix here so I am posting how to repair this.
The rear wiper arm was also seized so I cut a slot in a 1.5" steel washer to fit over the shaft and under the arm. I used a three jaw puller to remove it. A tie rod pry bar also works.
After removing the back panel, the wiper assembly is removed with four bolts. Take the cover off of the gear housing and remove the plastic gear and connecting arm. The wiper arm shaft can be driven out with a hammer from the wiper side. Leave the nut on initially to pound on. There is an "O" ring on the shaft but it doesn't keep out moisture. There was rust on the upper shaft which I ground off with a bench grinder and then buffed with a wire wheel. Apply grease to the shaft.and tap back in. Grease and replace the plastic gear, connecting arm and cover. I also wiped grease on the area near the end of the shaft to help prevent water from seeping in.
Replace the assembly and run the wiper so it stops at the proper point. Clean and grease the spline before putting the arm back on.
Cheers!
