Default 2005 gx470

Hi,
First time post.
Have an opportunity of purchase from a dealer, a 2005 GX570
1 owner
54000 miles
very nice condition inside/outside
serviced religiously by Lexus Dealer
options-nav, ML, rear seat entertainment, 3rd row seat and rear air
at the moment price is firm @ $22,000
Your thoughts of the price? To me, seems a little high

Even thought the mileage is low, the price seems high! Should be in 15k-18k range

Agree. Mileage is low, but it's still an 11 year old SUV. Price is too high.

If it needs anything done (timing belt comes to mind, because of age), offer $16k and split the cost of the service.

I'm just going to guess that rust will take her before the mileage does. Look CLOSELY to see what's starting to rot. I know a lot of people who think changing oil and doing brakes is taking care of your car/truck. NOT the case. Salt states will DESTROY your truck if you don't wash it. I'd wager that the undercarriage has some rust. I would also check doors (especially the back door), and the sunroof. Those love to rust.

For reference, I bought my 05 in great shape (with some frame surface rust -- everything else was clean) for $12.5K. It had 109K on it, just had its timing belt done, and had the air ride replaced within 10K. All good things in my opinion to make sure I didn't have to foot a bigger preventative bill soon. That's a $9500 for about 55K less miles. That's ridonkulous. You can buy some REALLY sweet stuff for $5K even...

I'd say what others have noted for price is true. It's a pretty rare find for an 05 to have that kind of mileage, but $22K is insane. They're about $3K over I think would be a reasonable ask for a dealer. At that price they'll still make a good chunk of change I'm sure... If they're firm at $22K, I'd pass.

Yes that price is too high, especially in PA where corrosion/rust is going to take its toll on any 11 year old vehicle. Try not to get in the mindset that the vehicle is perfect and nothing will go wrong for the next 100k miles, that just doesn't happen. Be sure to consider this fact when deciding how much you would like to pay for a GX. It is going to need a timing belt right away just due to age. If you can't do that work yourself, that's a big initial expense that you're going to need immediately. Transmission fluid flush is also due, depending on who you ask (some will say it doesn't need it, but they are flat out wrong).
