Default Ticking noise when reversing

My apologies if answered, new to forum...

I have a ticking noise coming from engine section of vehicle while Reversing. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

Thanks

Only while backing?

It's possible that it's one of the exhaust manifolds (a somewhat common fault on the 4.7 liter), but I would also check stuff like a rock trapped in the brake disc, etc.

If you increase speed does the ticking increase? If it does... My guess would be CV Shafts.

Thanks chip, only happens first thing in the morning. It seems like it had to sit overnight first. Yes, ticking sound only while backing in reverse

Cracked exhaust manifold. After a little heat the metal expands and it seals the crack. Try backing it up when the engine is hot and if the sound is not there you found your issue.

Much appreciated! Would that same fracked exhaust manifold issue explain a whirring sound and feel on the gas pedal while driving at cruising speeds? Thanks again

No, that's probably a wheel bearing that's bad.

I feel it faintly while my foot is on the gas pedal, when I take my foot off the gas pedal its runs smooth as butter - would this still qualify as a possible bearing issue?

Try lightly resting your foot on the brake pedal. Might be the brake pads. By lightly, I mean LIGHTLY but still engaged.
